I was awoken by the light creeping through my sage green curtains I don't remember much after the goodbyes I fell asleep for plane ride and most of the car ride back home

I hadn't opened the paper Alessandro handed me. I never really got the chance, I reached over to my nightstand and grabbed it. I would be a lier if I said I wasn't a bit nervous I couldn't think of anything  he'd want to say to me maybe it was over my snarky comment

I opened the paper carefully

If you need anything call me - Alessandro

ALESSANDRO

"What did that punching bag do to you? '' Carter, my best friend, we've known each other since we were kids. His father and my father were best friends up until his father was killed. We took him in ever since he's our most trusted soldier.

"Shut up" I couldn't get her out of my head. She was a vixen the way she never took her eyes off of me when reaching for her knife. I'd make her mine all in time no one would touch her, no one would dare to disrespect her, not even her bastard father, if it wasn't for this damn alliance I would have killed him he regarded her as if she was nothing.

I had given her my number. I'd be anything she needed. She was mine.

VIOLETA

It's been a few days since the dinner with the Romanos. It's been pretty boring since then father and Lorenzo are always out busy with their meetings.

Maia and I haven't been out since it's still too dangerous for us to be out in the streets with the whole Chicago thing. It's driving me insane, held up in this house it reminds me of what happened with mother this house is depressing it is always just the two of us. When my mother was around she was always singing. It was the most beautiful thing at the time I thought it was annoying but now I miss it. This house is dead silent.

"Hey V" Maia said following with a soft knock at my door

"Come in Mai" we made eye contact through my vanity she was still in her blush pink nightgown she opened her mouth to speak but no words came out

I turned to face her now "What's wrong"

"It's just that" she paused nervously playing with her hands

I placed my hand on hers not saying anything I don't push her she was obviously having a hard time

"Do you think we can go out I know dad said we had to be home but I'm tired of being here it's like we're prisoners I can't live like this" I'd do anything for my sister but if we got caught my father would kill us another issue was who we were, us being born meant having targets on our backs constantly it wouldn't be the first time someone tried to kill us and it definitely wouldn't be the last.

She must've seen the doubt in my face because she spoke again "We won't get caught dad and Lorenzo never get home until midnight anyways and plus you can fight just bring your knives" hope shone across her face

"Fine you have thirty minutes to get ready before I change my mind" I smiled at her

I would be lying if I said I wasn't nervous if something happened would I be able to kill or would I freeze

I took one last look in the mirror before heading down the stairs "Cmon Maia let's make this quick I'll be waiting in the car" I yelled

I didn't have a car but father and Lorenzo sure did. I decided on Lorenzo's newest baby as he liked to call it his porsche 911. We were already breaking the rules and might as well go all out.

Maia and I got home a few hours later with bags full of clothing we bought

"Maybe we went a little overboard with the shopping" she laughed

"Please we deserve it after being held up in this hell whole" I looked around the living room

Maia's eyes now wide in fear. It took me a second to realize the garage door was opening , I grabbed her by the arm and ran up the stairs into my room shoving all the bags into my closet.

"They know dad and lorenzo are never here this early" panic clearly visible on her face

"Relax before you throw us under the bus just act like nothing happened and if they happen to ask deny everything and let me take control" I said

"Violeta my office now" my fathers voice rang out

I smiled at my sister "We're fine"

I wasn't really sure why he was calling me down. I really doubt we were caught, there's just no way we were discreet. I knocked on the door waiting for him to give me permission to come in

"Come on" we were rarely allowed in here even when mother was alive she couldn't come in here unless he was calling her in or if there was an emergency.

He was sitting at his dark oak desk that was placed in the center of the room two black leather chairs in front of his own.

I mean he didn't look angry

"Tomorrow we will be going to the annual ball hosted by the romanos" He said sternly

"You will refrain from embarrassing me, you speak when spoken to" he said now looking at his computer screen

"Whatever" I mumbled

I started to walk towards the door until his hand gripped my arm. I hadn't even noticed that he stood up

"Do not test me, if you so much as dare breath the wrong way you'll wish it was you who died that night" he said now in my face

I tried wriggling out of his grasp "Let me go"

This wasn't the first time he'd thrown that night in my face. It didn't hurt me anymore. I already wished for it anyway. He shoved me towards the door letting me go.

Maia was already waiting in my bedroom

"What happened did he know" she asked

I smiled "Nope but we are attending the ball tomorrow night"

"You know whos gonna be there right" she gave me a suggesting look

I laughed
