Cade Neel was tired. Life had turned into one big shit-show, one disaster after another, and he was becoming the kind of tired that sleep couldn't fix.
After the... incident, that forced him out of the elite private school across town, his life had taken a turn for the worse. The events leading up to the incident was the catalyst that set him off. Now here he was, in a rundown public school filled with the future criminals of society. He shouldn't be here. Cade was nothing like the people who attended Timberview. Not really.
But after what happened last summer, no school in the state would take him in. It didn't matter how smart he was or how much recognition his previous schools received because of his academic achievements. He'd been given award after award and earned his elite prep school nearly millions in grant money.
And it didn't matter that he'd never once gotten in trouble before. That one incident was enough to tarnish any kind of good reputation he had with the school. It wasn't a big deal, he supposed. That school only ever cared about money, but the incident left him with harrowing and woeful memories he just wanted to forget.
Before coming here, Cade had done his own research on his new school. Timberview High was an all boys public school dedicated to taking in troubled youth and reforming them into hard working, successful people to release out into society.
It was just a load of bull shit though.
The school was notorious for housing violent juveniles who the school simply pushes out into the world, only caring about boosting the graduation rate rather than if said student was ready.
On social media, whenever someone talked about Timberview, it was always about students in conflict. Fights broke out on a daily basis and teachers did nothing to stop them. Cade had even read a post about an incident that resulted in the death of a student off campus. Of course nothing was done about it and the whole thing was covered up by the school under the guise of a simple accident.
That was something Timberview and his old school had in common.
The things other schools said about Timberview told quite a bit, too. Surrounding schools viewed it as the lowest of the low which resulted in many fights between students of different areas.
The fact remained that the school didn't care about its students or what they did.
When he'd first started at Timberview, he was still an angry and miserable kid. But he kept his emotions in check after realizing the people in this school would exploit them just for the heck of it. He wasn't going to give them that satisfaction.
Cade planned to stick to himself and get through the school year without another incident. So he threw himself into learning and reading while ignoring everyone around him. He'd ignored the yelling and the fighting and had so far gotten through two weeks without trouble.
