Silent Night.

3 Months have passed since the death of the King of Phokus, after his death he was simply dragged out into the city by the angry population, who were absolutely sick of his unsuccessful war mongering, costing the city not only money, key resources and even costing them trade with the Hittites and Egyptians, but also costing them thousands maybe even tens of thousands of their own people, families loosing sons, sons loosing fathers and friends.
When the King's corpse was dragged out into the streets, the angered population continued to discecrate the corpse, beating it with sticks and stabbing it with Spears, swords and Knives until it was bloodied and abused beyond recognition, much to the delight of the angry population.
All the while the Soldiers and Mercenaries continued running around the whole city, slaughtering whatever soldiers that they could find while breaking open the treasure rooms.

However the Seiptii Priestess Penelope, alongside her 10 Seiptii Sisters intervened and immediately stopped this - There was no point in pitty abuse of a corpse.
The Sisters and Penelope said that the People had their revenge but that they must not let their anger lead them a stray from the path towards Septima.

Septima afterall was the Goddess of War, Honor, Courage, Glory, but she is also the Goddess of Self control and Discipline.

The last two were of particular importance to the Seiptii doctrine, the faithful who embrace the aspect of pure uncontrolled bloodlust runs the risk of turning his or her back upon Septima, where in they shall be corrupted to serve a dirty of uncontrolled bloodshed and senseless destruction. Than they shall be marked as Corrupted: as Forsakened.

Yes, Septima is indeed the Goddess of War, but she  represented Honorable War and Self control and Discipline and even, strength, endurance and perseverance.
As such, those who follow in Septima's path must do so, knowing that they must not fall victim to the corrupting influences that being consumed by uncontrolled bloodlust and senseless killings can bring with it.

As such, only Heretics were purged and the other given the opportunity to learn and convert. Given the chance to understand, than convert to the faith and integrate into the fold.

This was the so called "Conversion Doctrine." as was written down by Priestess Penelope herself.

As such, after Penelope reprimanded the roudy, undisciplined crowds she and her faithful sisters took the corpses of their foes and there they brought him over to the funeral pier, where his body was set alight in the burial that was promoted by the Seiptii, a preferable trade off than being beaten and the bodies being disecrated. The Bodies were to me burned and the ashes allowed to float away or otherwise be collected and placed in a container, a jar.
But since the King's family had died long ago, the ashes were allowed to float away and be swept up by the winds.

...

Priestess Penelope and her coven of sisters were within the former Palace.
It had recently been used by the Seiptii Priestess as a temple to Septima. After cleaning out the blood and cleaning up the Palace, they had used this place for the past 3 months to conduct their prayers to Septima and to perform prayer sermons.

Penelope went over to an alter and there she lit up the candles that she had place there just the night before and as she did so, she knelled down and started her prayers to the wooden carving of Septima that was placed right in the center, it was the wooden carving of Septima that gave Penelope the most humble of feelings, the physical representation of the Seiptii War Goddess herself.

As she knelled she began praying silently
"Oh all mighty Septima, hear our prayers to you know. Forgive those who broke your doctrines, for they know not the way, forgive them, those who do not know the doctrine of self control, honor and that they broke it. They may yet learn and as your most humble of priestesses I shall carry out your will."
