The three little words caught Gulf by surprise and his heart tumbled, spine tingled, butterflies erupted, the whole nine yards. He popped another piece of sushi in his mouth to settle himself and frowned when Mew stood from their table without a word and walked towards the waitress that was standing by the hostess podium. There was some nodding and hand gestures before Mew strutted back with a self-satisfied smirk.
"What did you do?"
"Nothing."
Gulf's eyes narrowed on his mate before his stomach growled and he was distracted by the food again, "aren't you going to eat?"
"I already did" Mew exclaimed brightly.
Was he really so absorbed in his meal that he didn't notice? He flushed shyly, "I'm stuffing myself, aren't I?"
Mew shook his head vehemently, "no kosdyr I enjoy watching you eat."
"Should I be saving room for dinner?" he asked with a mouthful.
Mew swiped a thumb along his lip catching a stray piece of rice and removing it before smiling indulgently, "eat as much as you want Gulf, you're practically feeding our own personal army."
Gulf chuckled as he popped a small piece of cucumber in his mouth, "do we have to go to your house immediately?"
Mew shook his head again, "let's just spend the day together. There is so much to learn about you, kosdyr."
Gulf flushed and went to respond but the waitress strolled up to their table with a secret smile and a small bowl in her hand, "we were able to find some sir" she addressed to Mew and Gulf smelled the dish before it was even placed in front of him. His mouth watered in anticipation and the smell of peanut butter touched his soul. His eyes watered at the sweet gesture, and he turned his head away at the overwhelming burden of emotion swelling within him. His throat clogged and tears threatened to escape the hold he had on them. He had never had someone that paid attention to the smallest details and sought to make him happy. He had always been in charge of his own happiness.
"Gulf? Are you okay? You want me to take the peanut butter away?" Mew asked with worry.
Gulf's hand wrapped around the bowl protectively, "don't even think about it paaka" he choked out through the tears and grabbed a spoon to dig in. The first taste was heaven and he groaned in absolute bliss. This was exactly what he had needed. After the intense cravings for the last few days, he finally had the dream his tastebuds had yearned for. Eyes slipping closed, he could focus on nothing but the oddly pleasant mix of sushi and peanut butter in his palate. Nothing would come between him and this peanut butter. He would destroy them.
He was jolted away from his reverie as Mew's fingers caressed the top of his hand before twining their fingers together and Gulf glanced up to find Mew gazing at him, chin in his hand, "I wished you looked at me the way you just looked at that peanut butter."
Gulf squirmed, "you have to earn peanut butter status, I'm afraid."
"Oh? And how long does it take to earn peanut butter status with Mr. Trai-, Traipipa-... Gulf how the hell do you have this long of a last name?"
Gulf laughed loudly at the butchering of his last name, a twinkle in his eye, "well let's see... first you have to be the father of my many children."
"Check" Mew interrupted with a beaming smile.
"Second you have to rub my feet..."
"That's gross kosdyr isn't there some other activity I can perform to gain your favor?"
