"So what's between you and the new guy?" Neo sat back in his chair in the cafeteria, playing with my hair tie.
"Hm? Nothing." I quickly answered. He probably catched me getting lost in my thoughts again.
I usually told Neo everything, but I didn't mention Rhett and I almost kissing to him yet. I didn't even know if I was planning on doing so.
"Oh come on, Jaz, it's obvious something's going on with you two." He playfully raised an eyebrow.
"Jealous?" I joked.
"Yes." He answered dead serious and we both started laughing.
"To be honest, I don't know. I'm just so sick of his games. I feel like he hates me, but at the same time tries to get closer to me." I opened up a little. It was the truth.
I was fucking sick of his games.
Sick of his anger.
Sick of his issues.
Sick of his mood swings.
However, unfortunately not sick of his touch. And not only his touch, no, his presence alone made me feel things I have never felt before. I didn't like most of the feelings. It was no secret he enraged me. But he also somehow managed to make me crave him. In a not healthy way.
He acted toxic and I knew I needed to stay away from him. Then why couldn't I? I hated myself for feeling this way.
"You should stay away from him. He's not good for you." Neo cut my line of thought.
I let out a breath.
"I know." I answered a little annoyed. He had told me what I already knew.
Neo's head shot to the guy entering the cafeteria. My heart started to race a little of the thought it might be him. I wasn't ready to face him yet.
Lucky for me, It was just Kai. The guy every girl would secretly crush on and then get disappointed after finding out he was gay.
He was a nice guy, bit of a player though. Eye candy, I must admit. Silky black hair, that was tied in a little bun. He wore new funky shirts almost every day, which were always a statement. Today, it was red and had turtles with party hats on it.
I looked back at Neo only to realize his gaze was still fixated on Kai, looking at him in an almost longingly way. However, I could also sense a sadness.
"Neo?"
He immediately shifted his gaze to me, looking a bit embarrassed.
"What I meant was, you deserve better." He proceeded.
"Why were you looking at Kai this way?" I changed the topic, making him shift in his seat uncomfortably.
"What are you talking about?" He redirected his attention back to my hair tie, fiddling it in his hands.
"Did something happen between you two? Did you guys fight? Did he hurt you?" I was curious.
He responded with a slight laugh. Looking to the side then back down to the hair tie in his hands.
"No." He then responded.
"Then what happen-..." I stopped myself when a thought crossed my mind. Kai had also been at Chase's party. I hadn't seen him anymore while looking for Neo though. I looked back to Kai's table. The way Neo had looked at him... I knew this look too well.
"Neo... where were you when I couldn't find you at the party?"
