DINGO'S DINER
SEASON ONE
EPISODE 1: DECISIONS
[The episode begins with Crystal Spears sitting in her bedroom writing in her diary, her narration is heard as she writes]
Crystal
[Narrating/Writing]
The moment I’ve been waiting for my entire life is slowly arriving.
[Takes a deep breath]
The moment my Grandfather, the man who has raised me graciously my entire life…watched me graduate from Warm Springs High School, and provided me the opportunity to work at the best diner in Warm Springs, THIS man…is going to make me the corporate manager of the empire he built single handedly.
[Smiles happily as she continues writing]
Well…some would say that this position is a given due to him being my Grandfather, but no one knows me. I EARNED this. Even if the cards were on a different table, I would still make an eligible corporate manager for Dingo’s Diner. Why, you ask??
[Marcel enters the bedroom tiredly taking his business coat off.]
Marcel
Hey baby.
[He gives Crystal a peck on the cheek and continues on to the bedroom closet. Crystal smiles after her husband proudly]
Crystal
[Continues Narrating/Writing]
Well for starters; I have an established marriage, something none of the other employees at the diner can say about themselves.
[Smiles to herself]
This upcoming February will be our 5 year anniversary. He’s the man of my dreams.
[Looks back at Marcel and addresses him as he is making his way into the bathroom]
Dinner’s in the microwave honey bun.
[Marcel grunts and continues into the bathroom and closes the door. Crystal continues writing/narrating]
Ok, so we barely see each other most of the time because I’m so focused on becoming corporate manager at the diner and he’s been spending so many late nights at the firm trying to get his latest case completed…
[Sighs]
But it’s a marriage, and it takes two…and I promised myself I would focus more on spending more time with him as soon as I got corporate manager.
[Thoughtfully]
I like doing things for myself. I work hard, I play later, there’s nothing wrong with that, right? My grandfather was the one who taught me that it’s better to stand for something or you’ll fall for anything. This is what I’m doing…I’m taking my stand. Tomorrow at 9 A.M. my grandfather is going to name me the new corporate manager of Dingo’s Diner.
[The scene changes to Dingo’s Diner the following morning. Crystal is sitting in the managers’ office before her Grandfather Robert “Dingo” Spears, next to her sits her co-worker Brett Gosa. Crystal is staring at her Grandfather in awe]
Crystal
Brett?!?!?! You’re making Brett the corporate manager?!?!
Brett
[Pompously]
I am astounded that you’re flabbergasted by the events taking place, Crystal, I am obviously the perfect fit for this position.
