“ The story of women's struggle for equality belongs to no single feminist nor to any organization but to the collective efforts of all who care about human rights” Gloria Steinem.
Every Year on March 8 we celebrate the economic, political and social achievement of women.
As we celebrate yet another International Women's Day I want to salute our women for their never ending sacrifices ranging from physical abuse in silence, to struggling to keep their families and sanity in tact. Great job!
It's not easy being a woman with multiple roles and little recognition but our victory is in the fortitude we exude in our daily lives.
But to all women out there I urge that we join forces with each other for the betterment of humanity. Let’s stand up firmly for what is right. The time has come for you to not only understand your rights but stand up for the rights.
Life is a gift worth living to the fullest. Lets continue to dream and fulfill them, ever mindful that our success will be realized by our determination to stand for justice and equality for all. Let our words reflect our actions. Let our actions serve as a beacon. Let that beacon show the world that we will not be moved when obstacles confront us.
Every step made to end injustice against women is a step to improve our nation and especially our nations children. I would like to applaud all initiatives that serve to advance the case of women. I would especially like to point out some of the very creative approaches taken to address domestic violence. I was so very happy to see the recent promo by the Ministry of Social Development, bringing awareness about violence against women. I know some of the men would like me to say to our women, we too need to follow the golden rule.
The theme this year is “make it happen”. Celebrate life by loving more, passing it on daily and not only to your friends but to anyone who may need a friend. As we continue this journey let's do our part and share experiences which can bolster and elevate people's livelihood. Lets walk the talk to really and truly work hand in hand for a better land.
Let's use our energies to love and not hate. Let's Love enough to make 2015 the year when we as women without being told, will boldly step out and be more active in creating more avenues for survival to "Make it Happen " Happy International Women's Day. My very best wishes
