okay you might be wondering who I was texting and who I am. I'm Natalia, I'm a Erapis. We're what you would call vampires, and that person I was talking to right there is my bestfriend Mattheo. Mattheo is a also a Erapis as we both aren't allowed to hang with the "others". Our families are very strict about who we hang around with because of our high status.

We've known each other since we were born. We both come from wealthy families and our ancestors were really close.

okay before we get into anything else let me explain who and what the "others" are.

Erapis, like I've already said we're what you would call vampires. The purest of them all and often  are descendants of the wealthiest vampires which have ever lived.

Sarmei, they're like human except they have a special type of blood which can heal dying Thuri, otherwise they're kailo. Kailo means they aren't magical whatsoever. You see us Erapis and Sarmei have been at war all our lives. Mostly because of power and immortality. The wars still haven't ended as us Erapis are immortal and the Sarmei are not but they still have their children who get sent off to war once they've come of age.

Thuri, the rarest of them all. Thuri are basically the half Erapis-Sarmei. I myself of course have  never seen one. Thuri are also the most hunted as they have a special type of blood. Who's hunting them? The ones hunting are called the Renvar.

Renvar, the most gruesome of them all. They're a blue-black bird which can take form of a human. They prey on Thuri and are easily recognised by their black-blue hair with violet eyes.

And that's about it. Of course there are many other creatures but they'll be introduced later on.

*ding dong*

oh that should be mattheo.

"The doors open!", I yell down the stairs.

I wait a few minutes before my bedroom door opens and Mattheo enters.

"hey"

"you know after all this time I'm still not used to all of these stairs", he says while he takes his jacket off and hangs it up.

"well you made it just in time, I've set up the movie and made popcorn", I said.

"okay but first, you wanna talk about it"

"um"

"come on nat, just tell me what happened. Was there anything new?"

"no", I sighed and sat beside him on the bed, "it was the same as the rest of them, he was there about to go outside leaving me and mother"

"okay tell me exactly what happened, in full detail so don't miss anything out"

"okay lets see, father's there in his uniform about to say good bye. He gave me this necklace and said good bye to me and mother. A few months later mother got a phone call saying he didn't make it...", my eyes start to water up.

I'm usually quite a strong person who doesn't really give a shit, but when it comes to my father not surviving the war I break into pieces, having flashbacks don't help at all. I was around 6 years old when he left. It turns out that a  Renver had got to him. Did I forget to add that Renvar don't only hunt on Thuri but the Erapis too. Its just that the Thuri are harder to get.
