Chapter Two - Facing the questions

Alexa's POV 

I woke up in a strange room. The walls were grey and looked dull, it had one small window - it just let enough light in, a narrow bed that I was apparently sleeping on and a chair and table in the corner of the room. I turned around and saw a small door, it was probably just above my height. 

Where was I? 

I got up and looked around. I felt my forehead and then remembered. I had bashed in to a tree and fell unconscious. The lump had gone down a bit but it was still big. I groaned in frustration. What mess had I got myself in to now?!?! I slowly walked over to the door and twisted the handle. I stepped outside in to a corridor. It stunk. The walls were yellow and ugly and the doors were all brown. 

Wait a second..... Don't tell me where I think I'am. Please don't let it be.

"Ah so you're awake." a voice said. I spun around and saw a young police man. Yep I was right. I was in prison.

Nathan's POV  

She looked at me and the colour from her face drained. I bit my lip. She was beautiful. I had to contain myself from going over and kissing her. 

"Come with me," I ordered. She nodded her head and followed. I led her through the busy day of the police station and in to the room with Kev (our boss) and the rest of the boys. They turned to look at us and smiled slightly - well except Kev. 

"What am I doing here?" she murmured. She was clearly scared. I had the urge to go up to her and hug her and tell her everything was okay. Shutup Nathan! You're a police! Contain yourself! 

"Sit down please and we'll explain." Kev replied. She nodded and sat down on the last available seat. I smiled and went and sat with Jay. On his lap! This caused laughs from all of us and I could see that the girl was smiling too. Kev rolled his eyes. 

"BOYS!" he shouted. I got off Jay's lap immediately and stood tall - well I tried to stand tall. 

"Sorry about them. They're training to be full police officers, but if they can't be sensible they won't be!" Kev said to her. I laughed in to the back of my hand. It was true me and the boys aren't really sensible and are always messing about. 

"So. The reason you're here is because we found a body of a man in the river, the traces led to your house and the boys found a picture of you and the man, we know this because Henry detected who the body was and where it came from," he looked directly at the girl, "Dan detected the way he had been killed. Apparently three stabs in the chest. And the boys also found a bloodstained knife under the bathroom mat. You have some explaining to do. How did you know him? And what's your name?"

She looked down and didn't reply. 

Kev repeated his words. 

"If you don't tell me you will face the consequences." Kev said. 

"In my bed!" Max butted in. Him and Tom high- fived and laughed. 

"Max!" Kev roared disgusted. I had to admit it was pretty funny what Max had said. 

She rolled her eyes, "Fine with me." 

Max looked at her surprised with her comeback and winked at her. I don't know why but I felt like someone had punched my heart. It was like...... Jealousy? 

"PAY ATTENTION!" Kev shouted. She smiled. 

"I will count to three and if you don't answer my questions you will be put in a cell for forty eight hours." 

Her eyes went wide and she said, "Fine I'll explain. My name is Alexa Brennen and I have nothing to do with the murder." 

"How did you know him?" Jay asked. 

"Well," she looked at Jay, "He was close in a boyfriend way and then we just fell apart, I guess." 

Kev didn't look impressed. 

"You're going to be kept under our watch Miss Brennen. Tonight you will go home with Nathan," he said and looked at me. UGH KEV WAS SO ANNOYING, I WANT TO FUCKING PUNCH HIM IN THE FACE! 

But I replied, "Okay." she looked at me smiled to herself. This is going to be a long night.

Alexa's POV 

"This is your room." Nathan smiled opening a door to a cute guest room. 

"Thanks." I replied and walked in. 

"As you have no stuff we can go shopping tomorrow," he added. I smiled at him and nodded. All I wanted to do was kill myself. Stupid tree, it got me in to this mess. Actually it was me, but who cares.

"Dylan!" I screamed as he came closer and closer to me with a knife in his hand. His face was dripping with blood. 

"Your turn now!" he cackled and brought the knife to my chest. I screamed again and again and again. 

I woke up sweating. I was having nightmares again. I put my feet on the cold floor boards and crept out of my room. I remembered Nathan's directions to his room and walked down the corridor and slilently walked in to Nathan's room. I didn't know what I was doing. 

I got in to bed with him. 

"Alexa? What are you doing?" Nathan whispered tiredly. 

"I had a nightmare." I answered. He turned to face me. He wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me close. I put my head in his chest. I felt so safe with him. 

"Goodnight Alexa." he said kissing my head. 

I mumbled something back and fell asleep.
