(Y/N) sat up from the rocky floor of Hollow Cape. They looked around and nothing was in sight. Where am I? They stood up and got out of the cave. Multiple sunspots were surrounding a building in the distance. The sound of gems cracking and breaking made (Y/N) shiver. They waited for the sunspots to gradually disappear before running towards the building.
Once they entered, they got a minor headache as they started remembering their life. They then saw a puddle of mercury. "Cinnabar?" They said to themselves. Cinnabar was shattered and his pieces were still left on the floor. They quickly collected Cinnabar's pieces and ran to Rutile's office. "Rutile! Rutile! Cinnabar is-" Their voice trailed off. Rutile was not in his office. (Y/N) placed Cinnabar's shards on the table and started looking through the shelves until they found the glue. Carefully, (Y/N) attached Cinnabar's pieces together till he was whole again. They dusted Cinnabar with powder and looked at him proudly. (Y/N) then walked outside looking for more broken gems.
When they returned Cinnabar was sitting up from the table. "Cinnabar!" They yelled and threw themselves on him. Crack... "Sorry Cinnabar, I'll fix it right away." They said as they bowed to Cinnabar who was holding their arm.
"Where's Phos?" Cinnabar asked.
"Phos?" (Y/N) put their finger on their chin. They walked over to the pile of gems. "Bort, Red Beryl, Zircon, Obsidian, Neptunite,... no Phos here." Cinnabar sighed. "The lunarians are gone if you're still worried."
Cinnabar shook his head. "I'm glad you're back." He gave a small smile.
"How long was I asleep?" (Y/N) sat on the floor, fixing Bort.
"200 years."
(Y/N) almost dropped Bort. "200 years?! What happened in those 200 years?"
Cinnabar went through the whole story while (Y/N) finished fixing everyone.
"No night patrol anymore?" (Y/N) pouted. "Night patrol was the best though."
Cinnabar laughed. "You would wake everyone up sometimes and then sensei would scold you. Still, I wondered why'd you stay when you have a hardness of 9 as a moissanite. Wait, how'd you manage to stay awake?"
"A scientist never tells their ways." (Y/N) said.
Few years have passed and a sunspot has yet to appear. It was as if the Lunarians were done taking the gems away.
"(Y/N)?" Cinnabar called out in the field.
"Cin! Na! Bar!" (Y/N) yelled and giggled. They pounced on Cinnabar and rolled down the hill.
"(Y/N)! You almost shattered me."
"Oops." (Y/N) was on top of Cinnabar. They took in the view of Cinnabar's red hair that perfectly framed his face and sparkling red eyes. "You're so cute, Cinnabar." Cinnabar's cheeks flushed pink. (Y/N) slowly leaned down and placed a light kiss on Cinnabar's lips. (Y/N) stood up from the position and gave their hand to Cinnabar. "Let's go back." Cinnabar nodded.
Hand in hand with their fingers intertwined, they walked back to the building.
