The Lost Hope

Chapter One

"Thank God it's Friday" I screamed as we got out of the last class for the week

"Here we go again" my best friend Amanda sighed

"Why are you always so excited on Fridays?" Jason, my second best friend asked

"What is there not to be excited about? I won't be coming to school for two whole days. It always felt like the week will never end on Mondays"

"You are just lazy. The only thing you are happy about is staying in bed for two days" Amy knew me too well

"That my friend is happiness on its own,  but this weekend is different.  I won't be staying in bed at all"

"Really? What makes it different?"

"My half brother is coming over. He is coming to stay with us now"

"You never mentioned a half brother Aly, and I've known you since when? Kindergarten?" Jason couldn't hide his surprise

I've never met him.  He is my mother's son with her ex"

"I hope he is hot" Amanda, my best friend is always concerned with that

"I just said I never met him"

"Sure. I'm spending my weekend at your place" Amy keeps jumping with joy like it's her half brother coming over

"No please, you are not coming to my place at all"
I can't stand her giving him signals from his first day.  That's all she does,  and I don't know if he is that type.

"Duh! I have things to do anyway"

"You know I don't know how to feel about his coming. The feeling of having a big brother all of a sudden, should I be worried or excited?"
I have been feeling strange since my mom told me. I couldn't tell what feeling it was. Anxiety maybe

"It's okay to be worried.  I will be super excited if I find out my siblings were adopted, and I'm the only child of Mr. and Mrs. Brown"

"What?" Jason and I bursted out laughing

"Why would you think that?" Jason asked my dramatic friend

"Why wouldn't I? I will be the only heir to Browns &Sons"

"Oh! So it's all about money"

"Yeah yeah, and here comes lover boy" Amy clapped looking above my head.
I turn to see my headache, one of the reasons I will be very glad to stay at home rather than being in school, Hayden.

"Hi Aly" he smiled as he reached us showing his full set of white teeth

"It's Alice"

"Sure Alice. How are you?"

"I'm good as you can see. What do you want?"
I hated his sight. Not because he is ugly cos he is actually good looking, but he just disturbed me too much

"I'm throwing a party tonight, and I want to invite you" he scratched the back of his head as he talked.  Something he always does when talking to me

"Thanks"

"Are you coming?"

No

"Yes" my two best friends beat me to it

"We will be there" Amy assured him

"Thanks Amanda. I'll be very glad to see you all" he flashed his white teeth again

"Bye Aly"

"Alice" I corrected, and he just left with a big smile plastered on his face

"What was that? I am not going to that party"
