I stirred a bit and looked over at my alarm

I stirred a bit and looked over at my alarm. '6:09AM' was what it read. I must have hit the snooze button when it went off. I sat up and stretched, the strap of my tank top sliding off one shoulder lazily. Sliding out of my bed, my feet found their way into the warm slippers on my floor and in turn they guided me over to the washroom. I freshened up and brushed my hair getting ready for another usual day. I left the washroom and headed back to my room, the old wooden floorboards creaking under each step quietly. I scratched my belly a bit before removing my current clothes, checking for a fresh pair of undergarments before sliding them on. I grabbed my uniform. It was time for the winter uniform as I glanced outside, frost crept its way up my window and a thin layer of snow coated the ground and bare trees. The uniform consisted of thick skin colored leggings, plaid skirt, simple white shirt, cream cardigan and an indigo blazer to keep warm.

After grabbing my phone and making my bed I headed downstairs. "Good morning, Dad." I smiled and sat down at the kotatsu table we owned. My dad was busy reading the morning news paper but set it down and looked at me. "Morning, Y/n. Be careful on your way to school this morning. The snows slippery." He warned. I nodded and took a bite of the toast and eggs he made for me. My mom was out on a business trip the past week and she wasn't going to be home for a while to come. She works for a large company that produces medical supplies so she's usually travelling all around to demo new products. "Exams are coming up. You think you're ready?" My dad asked as he picked his papers back up. I chuckled nervously as I finished off my food. "Ready as I ever can be for these. I'm confident I won't outright fail though." I reassured him. He gave a nod and I cleaned up my dishes, taking them out to the kitchen. "I'm about to head out for the day." I called out to my dad in the other room as I finished packing my bag. I slipped it over my shoulders and my shoes found their way to my feet. The final touch was a warm plaid scarf as I opened the house door, the sky still dark out. "Bye, dad!" I called out again. "Goodbye Y/n! Have a good day, safe travels." He replied. I nodded and left the house, shutting the door behind me. The snow crunched under my feet as I began my approach to school.

The cold bit at my nose and ears as I continued my hike to school, and by hike I mean fifteen minute walk down the street. I noticed headlights of a car follow behind me slowly but I brushed it off as they turned down the next road. I saw my school in the distance and quickly rushed in to escape the cold. Next to my locker stood a tall girl. She had short, light brown hair and a big smile. "Mornin', Y/n." The girl gave a small wave as I opened my locker and smiled back. "Good morning, Lacia." Lacia was my childhood friend and we had always gone to the same schools growing up. I swapped my shoes and grabbed the books I needed before we set off for our classroom.
