Abuja, Nigeria.

"Weird how Ya Jalal will be celebrating his 30th birthday on May 31st, and you'll be celebrating your seventeenth on June 1st," Banina ranted.

"Yeah... it's really weird, but I'm not celebrating mine, so it'll be a bit different," Jalilah said, scrolling through Pinterest for decor ideas.

"Banina, this app is literally heaven! Ya Allah! You find everything you're looking for on Pinterest."

"Ikr. It's the best app ever... so cool and amazing."

"Wait, are you planning it to be big? The Ya Jalal I know hates crowds or anything related to associating with people."

"No, just us family and the two friends he has on this entire planet." Jalilah rolled her eyes, and Banina laughed.

"Your husband is really a loner."

"Ikr, and I like him like that," Jalilah grinned.

"Wait, wait, don't tell me you're already in love with Ya Jalal? This is amazing!" Banina squealed, clapping her hands and jumping up.

"Duh, Banina! I had no idea you didn't know the difference between 'like' and 'love'? I said I like him, not love him." Jalilah pouted, rolling her eyes.

"It's a lie, you big ass. You're in love with him! All the signs are even obvious."

"Which signs?" Jalilah raised her brows.

"I'm going to ask you some questions now, and you must answer me." Banina said, sitting beside Jalilah on her bed.

"Does your heart beat when you're close to him? Honest answer, Jay," Banina asked.

"Lol, my heart beats even when I'm not near him, just at the mention of his name—like now." Jalilah smiled, and Banina squealed.

"Do you always think of him when you're not together?" Banina asked, and Jalilah nodded.

"Last one, do things you see or situations in your daily life remind you of him?" Jalilah nodded again.

Banina stood up, twirling Jalilah around the room. "It's confirmed—you're in love with Ya Jalal, Jay!"

Jalilah immediately pulled her hands away. "You're really not serious, Nina! I'm not in love with Ya Jalal; he's my brother after all."

"Oh, save me that, Jay! I'll smack your head if you say 'brother' again." Banina looked serious, making Jalilah laugh.

"I'm serious, Jay. There's no sibling relationship between you two anymore. It's a husband-and-wife relationship now, and you're expected to act like one."

"Is it a crime to accept you love him?"

"Banina..."

"Listen, Jay, your mind may not be ready to accept it, but your heart already has Ya Jalal's love in it. I can see it right now in your eyes as you're staring at me, fool."

"Stop calling me that," Jalilah laughed.

"This isn't funny, Jay. Just accept the truth about Ya Jalal. I can't wait for you to be conveyed to his house—you two alone will work on your relationship." Banina said.
