Absolutely Flawless

I suppose you could start this story with "once upon a time" - I mean, Quinn's life sounded like a fairy tale. But she already had her happy ending, so I guess this story takes place after the "happily ever after".

It was four o'clock on a Sunday afternoon and Quinn had finally finished her chemistry homework. She picked her notebook up off the desk and walked across the room to put it in her bag. On the way, she caught a glimpse of herself in the mirror.  As usual, she was absolutely flawless. Everything was as it should be. Her hair was shiny and golden, her lips were pink and full, and her skin didn't have a single blemish.

Downstairs she could hear her mother chatting to someone. Quinn didn't recognise the woman's voice so she decided to look out of her window. Outside stood a woman with dark hair, whose face was mostly obstructed from view by the brim of her large, floppy hat. She wore a long, charcoal-coloured dress and had a chihuahua tucked under her arm.

Quinn went downstairs, out of a mixture of politeness and curiosity, to introduce herself.
"Ah Quinn, I was just talking about you!" Her mother beamed at her. "This is Natalie. She just moved in next door."
"Pleased to meet you Natalie," said Quinn. "I didn't know anyone had bought Leah's house.

Leah was Quinn's childhood best friend, although they hadn't spoken in years. Leah's father had left her mother for another man and the family had moved to another state two years ago. Their house had been on the market for a long time and Quinn thought it would never sell.

"I think you're about the same age as my step-daughter, Quinn," said Natalie. "She'd probably like to meet you. We're new to the area so she doesn't have that many friends yet."
"Would she like to come round next weekend?" asked Quinn's mom.
"I'm sure she'd love to - if that's okay with you?"
"Yes of course."
"I'll ask Santana then."
