Daisy was attending yet another one of Tony Stark's over the top parties, which seemed to happen far more often than was necessary. Not that she didn't enjoy them, because usually she did, but she wasn't really in the party mood today. It had been a long week, and she wanted nothing more than to be curled up in bed, asleep. The only reason she had come is because her gifriend, Jemma Simmons, had been excited about coming, and she didn't want to let her down.
Speaking of Jemma, where was she? Daisy glanced around the room to find her. She had last been with her as she was having a very enthusiastic conversation with Bruce Banner about some sciency thing Daisy couldn't even pronounce, let alone understand. Although she enjoyed hearing Jemma talk so passionately about science, at that moment Daisy had never felt more like a high school dropout in her life. So she went to get more drinks instead.
Finally, Daisy's eyes landed on Simmons, who appeared to he having a conversation with Captain America. She could just about make out what they were saying over the noise of the party.
"I mean, you got to work with Peggy Carter, the founder of SHIELD! The founder of SHIELD who was British. British! Well of course you knew that ... you were ... close but," Jemma lent forwards slightly, her voice reducing to a whisper, "She's amazing."
Daisy smiled lovingly, watching Jemma from across the room. She had always thought that Jemma was adorable when she rambled. Luckily for her, Jemma rambled a lot, because she was kind of awkward when it came to social interaction. However cute Jemma may be though, Daisy knew that she better go save Simmons from herself. Knowing her, it wouldn't be long until she started talking about his abs.
"And I must say," Simmons was saying as Daisy approached her and Rogers, "You have a very impressive physique," she continued, gesturing awkwardly towards the slightly flustered man.
"Jemma," Daisy called out, abruptly putting an end to the conversation (much to the relief of everyone involved).
"Come on," she said as she took her girlfriend's hand and practically dragged her away from the man, before she could humiliate herself any further.
"God, that was terrible, wasn't it?" Jemma asked once they were out of earshot of the Captain.
"No," Daisy replied. It was very obvious that she was lying. Even Simmons, notorious for being the worst liar ever, could tell, and she looked at Daisy questioningly, raising her eyebrows.
"Well, maybe it was a bit bad," Daisy said smiling.
"Maybe?" Jemma asked, unconvinced. "I started talking about his muscles, for goodness sake. His muscles. I don't think that's a maybe, Daisy."
Daisy had started laughing now, amused by how awkward her girlfriend had been.
"Oh don't laugh! I embarrassed myself in front of Captain America! He must think I'm awful." She looked slightly dejected as the words left her mouth.
Daisy squeezed her girlfriend's hand reassuringly.
"It doesn't matter what he thinks," she said, gazing at Jemma with affection. She admired her deep, hazel eyes; took in every last freckle scattered across her face like stars, memorizing every detail. Daisy could stare at Jemma all day and never get bored. In fact, she would probably enjoy it. Not, like, in a creepy way of course, it was just that Daisy was so enchanted by the other girl's face, and she knew she would never get bored of it.
"I think you're adorable."
