I stepped out of the car and my foot landed in a puddle. I could already tell this wouldn't be a good day. I could also tell that this wouldn't be a good day because we we're going to Birthday Freddy's Birthday Bash for my little sister's party. I looked at the small pizzeria. The walls were concrete and they were a light yellow color. There were a few windows and I could already hear the sounds of kids screaming with delight, even though I hadn't even entered the building yet."Rylee, can you help me with the balloons sweetie?" My mom asked. She was tall and had long brown hair, which was currently pulled back into a high ponytail. I sighed and walked over to her. I grabbed a few balloons in one hand and in the other was a gift my parents forced me to buy for her. "You guys can go without me. I just need to get a few things out of the car." My dad told us. My sister Kate got out of the car, her short blonde hair bouncing up and down as she jumped. "It's my birthday! It's my birthday! It's my birthday! It's my birthday!" She screamed while jumping around. There's definitely something wrong with her. I was definitely not this hyper on my 8th birthday. I don't think I got this excited on any of my birthdays. "Do I have to be here?" I asked my mom. "Yes Rylee. It's your sister's party! Also I already said that you would be joining." I groaned as we walked into the small pizzeria. Well, my mom and I walked, Kate kept bouncing. While she was jumping around I thought it might be funny to trip her. When she was in midair, I kicked the back of her knee and she hit the ground. "M-m-mom! Rylee tripped me! I think I'm bleeding!" She sobbed. "You're being a baby. You only fell on your knees. You didn't even fall that hard!" I protested. "Girls please behave. Rylee don't trip Kate, it's her birthday."Said mom. As if I didn't know that. Kate's been talking about this stupid party for weeks. It was so annoying. Kate always seemed to get everything she wanted. "MoM i CaN't WaLk!" Kate cried. We got into the entrance and I guess Kate noticed some of her friends because she immediately forgot about her knee injury and bolted over to them. A tall man with short neon green hair, a black beard, and a black t-shirt walked over to us. A shorter girl walked behind him. She also had a black t-shirt and her hair was neon pink. "Okay party people! Are you awesome kids ready to have a birthday bash?" The man yelled out. A loud chorus of "YES" came from all of the kids. Those kids were so loud I had to cover my ears. "Well just follow me and Luck to the party room and we can get everyone some name tags and wristbands!" The man said. "Yeah. Party time. Woo." The pink haired lady said with no trace of excitement in her voice. All of the kids including me followed Luck and the man into an arcade, through a door, down a hallway and then we were there. We walked into a small room. The walls were light pink and there were posters of robotic animals on the walls. I heard that this place had robots in it. Maybe that's what the animals were. There was a door that lead to another room. Maybe some kind of other hallway. In the middle of the room there were three benches with a light blue tablecloth over them. Balloons bobbed up and down in the air and the floor had confetti scattered on it. Luck started passing out paper plates and cups. "Alright boys and girls! Today is a very special day because we are celebrating Kate's 8th birthday! Before we get started with pizza, we should probably introduce ourselves! My name is Zach, and my coworker here is Luck. When you hear your name get called, come up to me and I'll give you a tag with your name on it, and a yellow wristband. That way when you kids go out to play we can tell that you're in Kate's party." Zach said. After a few kids went up, I heard my name get called and I went up. I put my name tag on my shirt. It had a bunch of weird smiling animals on it. I got my wristband on. It was one of those wristbands that are almost impossible to take off that they give you at carnivals. I went back to my seat and waited. "Okay kids. Who wants some cheese pizza?" Asked Luck. A little boy stood up. "Can I have pepperoni pizza?" "No. You get what you get. Now sit down." The boy pouted and sat down. Luck was officially my new favorite person here. After every kid got a slice of mediocre, probably frozen pizza, Zach went to the front and started talking. "Hello kids! I heard that some of you guys don't know each other, so let's all go around and say our name and a fun fact about ourselves! I'll go first. My name is Zach, and I'm very excited to be here right now! Luck, your turn. Then the birthday girl can go, then she can choose who she wants to go next." He turned to Luck. "Hi. I'm Luck and I don't want to be here right now. Oh yeah I also have a dog." Kate went next. "Hi! My name is Kate and I have a big sister! She's sitting right there!" She pointed to me and I hid my face with my hands. It was kinda creepy having all those children staring at you. "Ha! She's being silly. Maddie, you go next!" After all of the kids went, Zack got everyone together and handed us cups with small tokens in them, and we walked over to the arcade. "Now, all of you amazing party people got a cup with some tokens. There are about 100 in there, but try not to use them all up. If you come back here you can still use them. Also all of the gift bags will include a Birthday Freddy plushie, so maybe buy another plushie at the prize corner if you want one. Remember to keep your band and name tag on, and go have fun!" Said Zach. "When are we gonna see the animatronics?" A kid asked. "They just put on a show, but after a few minutes they'll come off the stage and talk to you! Then when we finish at the arcade, we're gonna go to the stage and watch them put on a show!" Zach replied. The kid, who I recognized as a girl named Patrisha, seemed satisfied with that answer and ran off to join Kate. "Hey kid." Whispered Luck. "Yeah?" I asked. "Want a few tips for the arcade?" "Sure." "First of all, try save your tickets to get the Birthday Puppet plushie. It's definitely worth it. The eyes light up, the bells jingle, and it has a voice box that plays music when you squeeze it." "Huh. That's pretty cool." I know, right. Also, when the animatronics come around, say hi to puppet. She only comes out on birthdays and holidays, so it's pretty cool when you get to meet him. One last thing, if you shake any of the games, it sets off an alarm and you'll have to sit in the security office for ten minutes. I had to learn that from experience." "Um, Okay...Thanks for the tips." I said. Then I went off to play some games and get a plushie. I met up with Kate and after talking to her, we agreed that when we were done playing, we'd pool our tickets together and buy the puppet plushie. After some time, we had enough tickets to get the plushie. Before we went to the prize counter to buy it, some doors opened up and four robots walked out of them. There was a neon rainbow robot that looked like a bit like a jester, a light pink and blue bear, a light blue fox, and a light blue rabbit with the same colors. The fox and rabbit were holding hands. As the robots came closer, I noticed that they also had a large light blue star on their stomachs, and some of the stars appeared to have hinges. "Hey there kids! My name is Birthday Freddy, but you can just call me Freddy if you want! My friends and I heard that there was a special party here!" He look at Kate, as if he knew it was her birthday. I heard people saying that this place had very high technology, so maybe he did know. "We'll get to know about you kids a little bit later, but until then we can talk!" Some kids ran up to Freddy, and some kids seemed scared and stayed away. "Come on. We need to buy that plush." I told Kate. "But... but I want to talk to Birthday Freddy!" She complained. "Fine. Give me the tickets and I'll get it." She handed me the tickets and I walked over to the prize corner. I handed the man working there the tickets and he gave me the plushie. It was nice and soft, and the details were surprisingly accurate. I went over to Kate to show her, and that's where things started to go wrong. "Hey Kate. I got the plush." I told her. "Ooo! Great! Now give it to me!" I stared at her. "What do you mean?" I asked her. "Well it's my birthday and I used most of my tickets to get it, so it's mine." She said sweetly. I was starting to feel upset. "Well I'm the one who bought the plush. Also it was my idea to get it!" I angrily told her. I guess these animatronics could also sense when there were arguments going on because the jester animatronic that I assumed was the Birthday Puppet stepped in between us. "Hi kids. What seems to be the problem?" Her voice sounded calm and motherly. "MY STUPID SISTER IS SAYING THAT A PLUSH BELONGS TO HER BUT IT REALLY BELONGS TO ME!" I yelled. Some kids looked my way and I blushed and looked down at my feet. "Ok then." He turned to my sister who I guess took the plush away from me when I was yelling somehow. "So Kate, what's your side of the story?" He asked. "Well I used more tickets than her to buy the plush and I'm the birthday girl." She calmly said. "WE ALL KNOW YOU'RE THE BIRTHDAY GIRL KATE!" I screamed. At this point I didn't even care if everyone was staring at me. I grabbed the plush and pulled its arm towards me. Kate got a grip on the other arm and started pulling it towards her. Birthday Puppet tried to calm us down, but I guess I pulled too hard and the arm ripped off. I panicked and ran. I had no idea where I was going. I sprinted past the prize counter and the ball pit that lay parallel to it. I turned right and I ran into a light pink room. I was the only person there. There was a light blue clown girl standing in front of me on a stage. There were a few tables and chairs scattered around the room. She stared at me with her bright blue eyes. There was plastic candy in her light blue hair and pink ruffles on her short top and on her also light blue shoes. There was some pink on her hands and arms and she looked like she was in mid song, even though no one was there. She gave me a slightly uneasy feeling. I could hear footsteps pounding on the floor. Kate would catch up to me soon. "Have you been a good girl?" A female voice interrupted my thoughts. "W-what?" I turned around. "Have you been a good girl Rylee?" The clown girl asked again. "Umm..." "I know you haven't" She said. I didn't know why I was so afraid right now. Maybe it was her knowing stare, maybe it was just guilt from being mean to my sister. "It's okay to tell the truth Rylee. Lying just makes everything worse." She smiled at me. It didn't seem like a friendly smile though. It was the type of smile an adult gives you when they want you to talk to them about stuff. "I... I don't think I did anything wrong..." I told her. After all, she was just a robot, how could she tell if I lied to her? She kept smiling. A hatch in her arm opened up and a light blue balloon started inflating out of it. "Here you go Rylee. A balloon for a good girl." I took it even though I knew I didn't deserve it. I wasn't good. I yelled at my sister a lot, I took the plush away from her, and now I lied to a robot and got a reward. Speaking of that reward, something was wrong with it. It seemed to be growing. It was getting larger and larger and larger. It started closing over my fingers and I couldn't get them out. I tried wiggling them, but the balloon only grew over them faster. I tried scooping the balloon off of me with my other hand, but the balloon closed over that hand too. After a few seconds, both of my hands were stuck in the balloon, and it was still growing. I started to panic. What was going on? What kind of balloon was this? Why didn't it pop? The clown girl just kept smiling at me. "Good girls deserve balloons, right Rylee?" She asked me. She took the name tag off of my shirt. By now the balloon was up to my elbows. I wondered if it would stop. "Hey bot lady!" I yelled at her. She kept staring at me. "Now that's no way to talk to me child." She said. The balloon was growing faster now. It started spreading around my body, getting my stomach and legs trapped it it too. I started to feel claustrophobic. Don't even bother yelling for help. No one will hear you." She said in a calm voice. I started yelling and screaming anyway. The clown girl put her metal hand over my mouth and the balloon started growing up my neck. It started getting harder to breathe. The balloon was getting bigger and started crawling up my head. I tried to move or scream, but eventually the balloon completely swallowed me. Everything was dark and I was very lightheaded. But then, somehow everything got even worse. The balloon was shrinking with me trapped inside of it! I felt my body being compressed. I started hearing cracking noises followed by intense pain. There was almost no air left to breathe. Then after one long, painful minute, everything stopped. I couldn't feel any pain. I also couldn't feel anything. I tried to look down but I couldn't move. I couldn't speak, see, or do anything. I felt light, and calm, and everything felt ok.
I held tightly onto the string that was attached to Rylee's balloon. I took her name tag and carefully stuck it to her light blue balloon. I opened a closet door next to my stage and looked up. About ten balloons all containing the souls of bad kids floated and quietly wailed. I could make out a few calls for help, but they were quiet, and had no energy behind them. It was good these kids finally realized that no one would help them. I carefully put Rylee's balloon in with the rest of them. It silently floated up and stayed still. I smiled. Maybe she was nicer than I thought she was... it didn't matter though. What was done was done. I closed the door and stood back on my stage as a birthday girl ran up to me to ask where her sister was. I just smiled, pointed down the hall, and hoped I wouldn't be in too much trouble later.
