On the 6th day of the new month, the empire was in celebration. Crown Prince Leomar had taken the throne along with his love, Luci Redmon. It had been a glorious day for the empire with parades occurring weeks in advance.
Visitors from other empires and kingdoms all came together to visit the empire for the glorious occasion. They carried with them piles of gifts for the new emperor and his empress. Celebrations lasted all day long. It wasn't until the sun rose the next week that the celebrations had stopped.
But speaking of the sun. When it did arise, the first act of the new emperor was carried out. After weeks of torture, Caspian Astor was silenced to death.
But of course, no one paid any attention to the emperor's first act of violence. For Caspian Astor deserved every bit of torture that he recieved. Some, who had known of this ordeal, had even lamented about how kind the new emperor was to give Caspian a quick death.
Poor child...once upon a time, there would be protests for this cruel deed. There would those who would try to stop it. Those who mourned such a loss.
But times change, and now?
No one cared for his death.
----------------------------------------
He was actually going to die.
Fine.
It was ok.
It was fine.
If he died, then he died.
Somewhere deep down, he always knew this was his ending. It was almost laughable. Every single one his efforts to prevent the collapse of his family lead to the collapse of his family. Though, at least they received a better ending than he would. His efforts to get the crown prince on his side only lead to the crown prince to despise him. Every time he tried something, he was destined to fail.
And now, the only thing that stopped him from dying at this exact moment was that the executor left to choose a duller blade.
If he had another chance at life again...would things change? Would everything be better now that he knew his ending?
But...
At least everything worked out for everyone else. At least his family still has status. At least the crown prince, no, the emperor is happy. At least he was the only one that got punished...
Caspian had never thought of his life going far, but he never expected this to be his ending either. Somehow, even knowing that death was coming, he felt strangely at peace.
It was his first true moment that he felt this peace. He didn't have to worry about the future. He didn't have to have any concerns at who he was offending. He didn't have to worry about how to survive another day.
Yet, when the executor's footsteps sounded from behind him, Caspian's thought shifted.
What'll happen to the people that wronged him? What would they do if they got punished like he did? And even then, could he have ever succeeded?
They say, when you experience a near death situation, you see your whole life flashing right before your eyes...
And his life did. Everything he's done. The thoughts quickly flew out of his mind. Perhaps the world was right. Perhaps he was just a scum.
"How lucky I am." He said, as the blade fell onto his neck.
He was truly at peace.
So imagine his surprise, when he awoke in a bedroom that was quite familiar.
