Chapter 9

I stand in the back of the ballroom by the punch bowl. So far, nobody has talked to me. I've realized that many of the Alfea girls are already in relationships. Jenna and Andromeda already have boyfriends. Jenna is dating Andromeda's brother and andromeda is dating the Prince of Melody. I take a sip of punch when all of a sudden, the most handsome boy I've ever seen walks in. His brown hair hangs just above his eyes and the rest is perfectly even. He's muscular but not too muscular. He's perfect and gorgeous. I stare blankly at him for a few seconds before agreeing with myself that I should flirt with him. I take a sip of punch and walk past him, swaying my hips a little more that usual when I walk but he doesn't notice. All of a sudden Andromeda is clutching into his bicep. But she has a boyfriend! I groan and walk outside. Nobody wants to dance with me. I know I just got here and don't know a lot of people, but it's not really fair that people think I'm invisible. I guess life isn't fair.

I walk in the courtyards for a few minutes, thinking about everything that has happens since I found Jenna. I decide that maybe the party wasn't such a good idea. I have never been a party person. So I leave, I walk back up the stairs to the dorm. I open my suitcase and decide to unpack the last bit of clothing and items that I brought. I pack a few outfits away and fold some sweaters before finding my mother's photo album. I have never looked at it before. I take it out and put it on my desk with the letter that I am supposed to open on my eighteenth birthday.

I am about to open the photo album when there is a knock at the door. I get up and leave my room to answer it. When I open the door the gorgeous boy from the party is standing there. My eyes widen.

"Hey, my sister said you might be here, I'm Jake, Jenna's brother." He says. "I saw you at the party, but by the time I got the courage to ask you to dance you were gone."

"I...well...," I tried to explain that parties aren't my thing but I think I've changed my mind. "I'm actually going back now."

I smile at him.

"Great," he says and holds out his arm for me to take. "May I escort you?"

"You may." I grin and take his arm.
