The pitter patter of the ongoing rain surrounded Sai as he ventured through the part of the village that used to be filled with the lives of one of its most powerful clans, The Uchiha Clan.

Ever since his first and last encounter with Sasuke, he hasn't been able to get him off his mind. Always thinking of him and just where his mind could possibly be, Sai was intrigued by his thoughts more than anything.

He saw what he could only describe as pain traveling through Sasuke's veins, but given his hard personality and the timing of Sai's rescue, he never truly got to see that side of him.

Despite that, he wasn't the only one that had developed an interest during their encounter.

Sai walked up to the gate of the clans last leader at the time, he opened it and closed it behind him now facing the place he dreaded to know how Sasuke felt about it. What once was the only place he knew, was now the place he couldn't forget.

Filled with memories and the lost souls of those that meant so much to him. It reminded Sai of his brother and wondered if the pain he felt was similar to that of Sasuke, but to a greater degree. He was curious as to how his mind operated, he left everything he knew in the name of vengeance, he wondered if it meant that little to him.

Sai didn't understand a lot as it relates to emotions, given his training in the ANBU, but he wanted to understand Sasuke. He wasn't like the others, they expressed happiness, love, friendship and togetherness, but Sasuke, he didn't have any of these and he lived his life just fine.

At least from what Sai could understand.

Sai entered the home and quietly ventured to what used to be the family's living room, the room that they all occupied together before losing the opportunity to have that again.

"Sorry I'm late." Sai apologized.

"It's fine. It's raining." Sasuke answered, sitting in the center of the room while observing the single lit candle in front of him.

"Yes, thank you for understanding." Sai bowed, sitting in front of him after putting away his belongings.

"No need to thank me."

"It would've been a kind gesture."

"What makes you think I deserve it?" Sasuke asked, looking up at him.

"..."

"This is our fifth time meeting again, Sai. You should know me enough by now." He spat.

"But I don't."

"So I've realized."

"Yet you still come here to help me every now and then. For that I am grateful to you." Sai smiled.

"Hm, you think I'm here simply to help you understand human emotions?"

"That's the impression I have."

"Then I must be failing at it."

"Why do you say that, Sasuke?" Sai asked, smiling slightly and tilting his head to the side.

"Don't give me that fake smile." Sasuke demanded, diverting his attention back to the candle.

"I'm sorry. I've yet to experience happiness. So I'm not sure how to-" Sai tried, but stopped as Sasuke stood on his feet.

"Then why am I here?"

"..."

"If this isn't something that makes you happy then why should I be here? Wasting our time." Sasuke demanded to know.
