that same night
Fiona
I tossed and turned in my bed for what seemed like hours. Ever since that night, I have been unable to fall asleep for hours upon end. My mind was too afraid to fall asleep, it was afraid that he would show up in my nightmares again. Of course, I hadn't talked to anyone about that night, other than Adrien of course.Finally after much desperation, I pushed myself up from up from my feathery pillow and stared blankly at the alarm clock on my bedside table. It was only 2 am.
You need to sleep, Fiona. You have the showcase for the Fashion Club tomorrow and you don't wanna let anyone down. Come on.
The inner voice echoed those words in my head, hoping it would click something in my brain to listen. But seconds turned to minutes and minutes turned to hours and now it was 4 am.
"Ugh!"
I covered my face with my pillow and loudly muffled nonsense into the pillow. I couldn't stay in bed any longer, there's no way I would be able to sleep tonight. I pulled myself off my bed and grabbed the cardigan hanging off the wooden end of my bed frame. I wrapped myself in the cardigan and made my way to the balcony. As I pulled the doors in, a fresh breeze invaded my room.
I took a step onto the balcony, clutching onto the cardigan for some warmth. I leaned against the railing, looking up at the night sky, admiring the twinkling stars that lay in front of my eyes.
I stood there for a while. Taking in the moment and letting my fingers freeze along the icy-cold metal railing. Although there was many tiny stars spread all over the sky tonight, there was one that really stood out from the others. A small glimmering star in the distance. I felt like there was a hidden meaning for this type of night. It could mean someone was looking over my shoulder, protecting me at all costs. But it could also just be an ordinary star that was too close to the Earth. Then again it could also be the lack of sleep making me feel deliriously exhausted.
I guess I'll never know.
~~~
the next morning
I was being woken up by ringing in my ear. I opened my eyes to see Sierra, hovering over me with my phone directly placed in my ear.
"Finally, you're awake. This has been going off all morning."
Sierra smiled, plopping the phone onto my bed and scurrying out of the room. I waved my hands in the air, stretching them upwards before letting out a satisfying groan.
I hunched over to my phone and read my notifications. I had many missed messages and calls, and even a few emails.
I don't even remember falling asleep. Shit.
I ridiculed myself before my phone started ringing again.
"Hello?"
"Fiona! Where are you?! You were supposed to meet us for the final fitting two hours ago!"
A frantic Marinette exclaimed through the phone.
"I'm so sorry Marinette! I had a rough night and I overslept!"
I sighed, falling backwards onto my bed in defeat.
"It's ok, Fiona! Just meet us at the event and hope the dress fits you well enough!"
"Okay I'll be there soon!"
