Dom gasped for breath as he woke up underneath the cooling shade of a tree protecting his already burnt skin and already worn out armour from the sun's heat.
'...Marcus.' Dom said quietly raising his hand towards the face of his brother in arms that his mind illucinated, before passing out again from the agonizing burns all over his body.
As Dom's mind succumbs to darkness once more, he hears an all to familiar sound, the sound of people screaming and the booming noises of battle.
It was all too familiar to Dom, those sounds never left him even though he has left them behind. Then, it was where he heard it, the voice that woke him up jumping and his heart racing, his eyes looked upon what seems to be a red sky with blue portals dropping what seems to be... a horde of nightmarish creatures, ones out of nightmares kids would have and tell for their parents to switch the lights on.
He heard the voice again, the voice of a child calling out for his mommy and groans of what he thinks is a lambent, his initial reaction was to get away from the sources of the voice and get support or ammo, but something in his heart told him to go back something he just couldn't ignore.
'Goddamit!' Dom shouted, punching the cool green grass as he got himself back up on his two feet, he was barely stable but it was enough for him to walk even if he stumble and stagger at times.
As the source of the shouting got ever so close to him, he quickly readied himself with his snub pistol, a gun that doesn't give lot's of firepower but enough to keep enemies at bay and stop them dead at their tracks... if used correctly.
When Dom reached the source of the screams his face was one full of horror, he saw a giant hornet stabbed a villager in his gut piercing his flesh with his intestines pulled by the hornet's stinger, quickly he shot the hornet dead exploding to a bloody mist.
He hurried towards the dying villager, putting pressure on the open wound and pushing his intestines back to his body.
'You're gonna be alright buddy! Just stay with me here!' Dom said to the dying villager.
'...shield...shield hero...'
'Huh?'
'Help... shield...help the shield-' before the man could finish he choked in his own blood and dies struggling to breathe.Dom slowly removed his bloody hands away from the corpse of the villager and closed his eyes before moving further into the chaos riddened village, and finally he saw the cause of that voice.
A small boy crying over the corpse of his mother, the head decapitated and the body stabbed with five or more arrows, as he walked towards the child reaching his right hand forward the child flinched and stumbled back a few inches away from the corpse of his mother.
'Hey kid, we need to get away from the place as far as possible, more of those monsters could come back.' Dom said to the young boy.
'I- I don't know what was I supposed to do, they-they just appeared and-and she just dropped, she hid me behind those barracks there a-and-'
'It's okay, kid. It'll all be okay, I swear to you, we'll be fine." Dom assured the kid land him a hand.
'I promise I'll help you out anyway I can, but first I need to know...where's this shield hero guy? A man said to search for him, maybe he could help you out more than me.'The child grabbed his hand and pulled his own weight as Dom helped out a little bit.
'The shield hero is out in the field with his friend.' The boy answered.
'Well then that's where I should go, come on kid, let's get you to safety first.'Suddenly Dom was hit in the head with some kind of blunt weapons, but it didn't do much other than give him some a few splinters in his head, he looked back and saw who the culprit was.
