“Are these your kids?” I ask her.

“Two of them are, yes. The ones in the black crib.” I turn back around to look at the tiny unencumbered humans in the black crib. They’re both boys, but one of them has brown hair and the other has black hair. The girl baby in the purple crib has blonde hair and the baby boy lying next to her has reddish brown hair. The look oddly familiar… “Do you want me to introduce you to them?” she asks me. I just nod my head slowly and look her straight in her blood red eyes.

“No. Why would you introduce me to someone I already know?”

“Oh look! Mr. Hartman catches on really fast!” she says sarcastically.

“How do you already know them?” Lisa asks me.

 “Because they’re us.”

“You are correct once again, Sawyer.” Lux says, stepping forward to stand next to the purple crib. “I should be taking these two home soon. They’re getting homesick.” She says, motioning towards baby Lisa and baby Shane.

“Homesick?” Tenebris asks. “How the hell are they homesick when you live right across the street?”

“They want to be in their own nursery.” Lux answers. “They don’t want to be cooped up in this baby prison.”

“And how exactly is this a baby prison?” Tenebris asks, getting offended.

“Just look at this place! It has no color and all the lights are dimly it! They can’t learn the alphabet if they can’t even see the letters! At least my house has a splash of color to it!”

“Splash of color? BITCH, YOUR WHOLE F*CKING HOUSE IS WHITE! HOW THE HELL IS THAT A SPLASH OF COLOR?”

“CAN YOU TWO STOP THE CHILDISH BICKERING FOR ONCE AND EXPLAIN WHY THE HELL YOU HAVE BABY VERSIONS OF US?”

“They’re not baby versions of you; they are you.” Lux says. “They’re your soul.”

“But wait.” Lisa interrupts. “I thought that your soul is the same age as the age you’ve died at.”

 “You are correct.” Lux says.

“But I died when I was 2 weeks old from undeveloped lungs because I was born pre-mature. Baby Lisa looks way older than 2 weeks.”

“Yeah and I died right when I was born because the umbilical cord was wrapped around my neck and choked me.” I say. “They definitely look older than our death age.”

“In this world, things work a little differently.” Tenebris says. I’m not sure if I like her voice or not. It’s silky smooth but razor sharp at the same time while Lux’s sounds very calm and warming. Their accent makes them sound like they’re from the 1700’s…may they are from the 1700’s. “Children who have died before reaching adulthood keep aging until they reach 20. Living with your dead parents as an immature child for eternity would be hell. This is not hell. That’s a little further down the road.”

“Well if they age until they’re 20, shouldn’t they be our age by now?” I ask. “Why are they still toddlers?”

“Aging has different rules in the after life. Children age one year every 12 years here. So if a child is 15 it takes 60  years for them to reach 20.”

“Damn. 60 years is a long time.” Lisa states.

“Not when you have the rest of eternity to seek. Each month in the living world is a year in this world. Time passes by quickly here. That’s why you must be careful when you visit. ”

“So if we are 17 right now, they must be about 17 months old.” Lisa says.

“Yeah. They have a long way to go before they leave this nest.”

“Oh my goodness gracianious! They are so cute!” Joey walks in the room and immediately picks up baby Lisa. “Who is this?” he asks, bouncing her up and down.

 “Lisa’s soul.” Tenebris answers.

“What?” he asks, stopping the bouncing to look at Tenebris.

“That’s not the main question right now.” I say. “What I’m wondering is how the hell are you fangirling over babies when I just saw you lying on the floor dead less than five minutes ago?”

 “I don’t know.”

“Wait a minute.” I walk over to him and place to fingers on his neck. Nothing. I place my fingers on his wrist but I don’t feel a slight thumping. “You have no pulse.”

“Neither do you.” I turn around to find Shane standing in the doorway. “Check for yourself. None of us have a pulse.” I take my fingers off of his wrist and place them on my neck. Nothing.

 “What the…?”

“I think it’s time for you all to go home.” Lux says. “Shall we?”

“We shall not!” Joey snaps. “Why can’t I feel my f*cking pulse?!”

“You ask so many questions, Mr. Graceffa. Be careful about what you ask. There are some things that you really don’t want the answer to.”

 “But—”

“Goodbye, young ones.” Lux interrupts Joey. “See you all tomorrow. Have a nice day at school.”

What is she talking about? We just came from school.

“Sawyer!” mom yells from downstairs. “Wake up or you’ll miss the bus!”

I sit up in bed and roll onto the floor with my cover still wrapped around me. Apparently I “slept” but I feel like I just ran a half marathon. F*ck it. I’m not going to school today.

I want some Oreos. And for some reason I really want some cherries…

I know it's short, but hey. at least i updated. My aunt told me i should stop writing fanfiction until my grades go up so i can focus on school, but i'm still going to write...kinda.

don't hate me for the next chapter. there might be some things going to happen to Joey that you probably won't like. #SorryNotSorry
