I'm sorry if this is abrupt. The last time I updated this story was September 25, 2016. Just about five years ago.
If you're reading this last chapter, I wanted to say thank you so much for reading what I wrote so long ago. I'm sorry for forgetting about this project and leaving it where it was, but life went on. I'm still writing, just in other places. Looking back at what I wrote on this platform and remembering all the kind people I got to interact with makes posting stories on here quite tempting. But anyway, back to Harry's story.
I'd like to think that in the last five years Harry grew up and came into his identity. I sure know that I did. He untangled his feelings for Ron, Draco, Seamus, Parvati, and all the others. He laughed with friends until the wee hours of the night, made tea for visitors when they came by, listened to his mentors with an open mind and open heart. He learned to be vulnerable and trusted that the people in his life saw him for who he was. To borrow words from the infamous NYT op-ed about goat emails, he reaped the rewards of being loved by submitting to the mortifying ordeal of being known.
I think the Harry/Ron dynamic would have been fun to explore, since I prefer friends to lovers over enemies to lovers any day. Sure, it's less angsty, but there's so much love throughout the story, it just changes forms! I'm sorry this is where it ends, but find it sweet that the last thing I remembered to write is Harry and Ron being bros.
I hope you're well. Much love, xx.
