"Eat your food Calen."It was the morning and I was feeding he and Zay breakfast before sending them off to school. I started to clean the dishes I used when the TV nearby caught my attention. It was showcasing a flood of police vehicles in front of familiar home. I can tell it was recorded from late last night and being broadcasted this morning.
It wasn't until I seen Cairo's mother, Halle, on the screen that I scurried over to the flat-screen and increased the volume. "The Collin Hills residence of music mogul Cairo 'Burna' Norman was broken into late Wednesday night," The news reporter spoke and I cursed under my breath. "Around 3 am, the Dallas police responded after authorities were called by the mogul himself about a home invasion that leaded to the mogul's wife, singer Jade Skye in being shot."
I let out a sharp gasp. "Oh, my God!"
Zay eyed me worriedly. "Momma, you okay?"
"Go wake your Grandma, Zay, please." He rushed off as I grabbed my phone and called Joie. The line was ringing as tears blurred my visions. "Answer the phone Jojo."
"You 'kay Mommy?" Calen asked with worry.
"Yeah. Just finish eating." I stepped out to hide these emotions from Calen when Joie answered. "Jo, have you seen the news?"
Joie yawned on her end. "Girl you know I don't watch the news."
"Jade was shot, Jojo! We have to get to the hospital."
"What?" She sounded fully awake now, "Shot!? What happen?"
My mother and Zay came where I stood. "I-I don't know. They say it was a home invasion. We need to get to the hospital. I don't know if she's alive."
"We not speaking that into existence." Joie kept her positive frame of mind. "Just meet me at the hospital. I'm calling Andi right now. Just stay calm Care. I know it's scary, but you have to be able to drive, okay?"
I blew out a quivering breath. "Okay, okay. I'm calm."
"Okay, now meet us there."
I nodded as if she could see me, hanging up our call. I rushed over to the entryway and slipped on my UGG boots when Zay and my mother followed me. "What in the world is going on?"
