⊰⊹ฺOphelia opened her eyes with a groan, bringing one of her hands up and rubbing off the tears that'd fell onto her cheeks while she slept. She didn't dream of her origins often but when she did the girl always seemed to wake up with shiny wet cheeks and puffy eyes. It was most likely her mind's desperate attempt to get her emotions rolling but Ophelia just shoved it off. She didn't want to care again.
Pushing off the cold floor she muttered out a curse at the pain shooting through her back. She'd known it wasn't going to be a comfortable night though she didn't think about how the morning would be. Still, it beats laying on the couch that was probably filled with bugs and rats.
Finally standing all the way up the teenage girl stretched, relieving some of the pain holding onto her spine. She'd stayed the night at an abandoned house but never went any farther than the living room, if anyone else was lurking in the house she'd rather not confront them and stay in her own respective room. It wasn't the smartest idea but leaving her lavish rich life wasn't either, that's what people would think anyways. Maybe they were right.
Walking over to her black duffel bag she kneeled down and looked through the contents, pulling out a pistol and knife while doing so. Zipping up the bag and putting the weapons into their respective holsters around her waist she stood up, pulled her cheap black jacket on, then slipped the bag's strap over her shoulder. Sending a final look over the filthy home with her sharp green eyes the teenager left through the squeaky wooden door.
She pulled a black coloured medical looking mask out of her jacket pocket and over her mouth and nose as she went, pulling the hood of the long jacket over her short red hair. It was a choppy bob looking haircut, reaching a bit below her chin. It was obvious she'd done it herself, the uneven ends and terrible back giving it away the most.
Stuffing her hands in her pockets she walked along the cracked sidewalks, head tilted downwards to hide her piercing gaze. She stopped outside a drugstore after a good half-hour of walking. She examined the small building from the outside, it was small and judging by the fact that it was on the poorer side of the city she assumed it didn't get much traffic. Well, that and the fact that if it weren't for the flashy "open" sign she'd assume it was abandoned.
With a breath Ophelia stepped inside the building, dropping the bag near the door as it would only raise the suspicion. The mask and hood were already alot, not to mention her all-black attire, though she could easily pass those off as being an edgy teenager who was also a germaphobe. A small jingle sounding above her as the door was swung open. The girl gave the person manning the counter an uninterested glance, atleast that's what she showed as she walked towards the back of the store. She stopped infront of one of the large glass fridges and gave her own reflection a nod. The person behind the counter was a teenage boy, pimples scattered over his greasy face. Ophelia knew they wouldn't leave a young boy to work alone, atleast not one who looked to be only on his first few days. This meant someone else was working too, perhaps more in the back.
As she began making her way back towards the counter she grabbed a meat stick, not checking the flavour or brand. She set the singular item on the counter and watched as the boy awkwardly scanned it then tapped a few things on the screen infront of him under her gaze. Ophelia couldn't decide on an age, though judging by the work environment he had to be atleast sixteen, this meaning he was either the same age as her or older.
The boy turned his dotted face back up to hers and, without meeting her eyes, stuttered out her total. "That's uhm- That's 36 cents ma'am." Ophelia couldn't help but smirk, he couldn't see half her face yet the boy seemed to have formed a little crush. She didn't understand how people could fall in love at first glance, it was silly, though she still found it entertaining.
"Right." She began with a little nod of her head, reaching down below the counter. Her hidden smirk fell as she turned the safety off her gun, taking a step back and raising it to point between his eyes at one of the many pimples on his skin. "I'm gonna have to ask you to empty that register. Do it quietly, don't drop a cent." She said, narrowing her eyes at him and locking them with his terror filled blue hues.
A gasp erupted from the teenager but he quickly did as he was told, eyes wide as he pulled out money and coins from the cash register. Glancing at the money she shook her head. "Keep the change, I don't need it." She stated rather plainly. He just gave a nod and put it back into the register with small clinks.
The boy set the money down on the counter and she grabbed it, stuffing it into her pockets quickly. She glanced up to a camera in the corner of the building behind the boy and narrowed her eyes. Turning her gun to it she pulled the trigger, hearing another breath fall from the kid and a scream from somewhere in the back. Suddenly an alarm started blaring and she let out an annoyed groan. Grabbing the meat stick she forced it into one of her jacket pockets, folding it slightly.
While walking back towards the door she slid her gun back into it's holster and swung it open, sending the boy a glare before racing down the sidewalk. Seeing an alley she skidded to a half and turned inside, her hood miraculously staying on as she ran. After about a minute of running she slowed down, a large dumpster sitting in her path. Shaking her head and taking a breath she scrambled onto the top and carefully made her way to the other side, sliding off and landing on her knees with a huff.
Out of all the things she could've looked up to see, Ophelia definitely didn't expect Spiderman to be standing a few paces ahead of her.
"Dammit." She muttered under her breath.
