Tinuade
10:50 PM"What's up?" I asked him as we walked slowly away from all the commotion.
"Nothing much, just wanted to chat a little," he said. He seemed uneasy.
"Is everything okay?" I asked.
"Yeah. It's just..." He said.
"Just what? Did I give the impression that you couldn't talk to me?" I asked further.
"Kinda," he said with a smile.
I punched his shoulder. "Stop goofing around. In fact, I want a rematch."
"Oh, do you?" He asked, nodding smugly.
"Let me just get my knife first." I bent down and stuck my hand under my skirt as if I had a deadly weapon taped to my leg and I saw him move quickly away from me. I laughed in my head. Teasing him was just so much fun and I couldn't help it.
"Okay, what did you want to say? For real," I said, stepping closer to him.
"It's nothing," he said, looking away.
"You know I'm keeping my date waiting," I said, looking at Max without moving my head.
"Oh," he uttered, sticking his hands in his pockets. "Gotcha."
"But I can totally stay if you want," I said, afraid I'd just fucked up twice in one night.
"No, it's fine. You can go," he said.
"Okay," I muttered, hesitant at first and finally walking away to meet Max.
I'm such an idiot, I thought.
I looked back at him, maybe in hope that he'd still be there so I could have a reason to walk back. But he was gone.
