"daddy?" hearing the very light but tried voice above me, i looked up, seeing Namiko walking towards me with her blanket on her shoulders, holding it close to her small body. "Why you out here alone?"
"why are you not in bed?" i asked and she laughed softly, sitting infront of me. "I'm just thinking"
"about what?"
"why aren't you sleeping? i thought i told you about wandering at night"
"i saw you out here alone.. i-i can't sleep"
"Is your mom still sleeping?" she nodded. "Come" i stood up and began to walk, grabbing her hand once she walked closer to me.
i may have blocked off our house the best i can, but i still will never trust my family out here alone at night. not even out of my sight.
once we got to the peek of the hill, i sat down, Namiko looking at me with a hesitant look.
"your okay" she sat next to me and scooted close, i could tell she wanted to tell me how scared she really was of the night, but decided against it many times. "You see?"
"AHAHHAAH I WIN!" Inosuke laughed loudly as he jumped through the trees, Tanjiro following behind him.
"not all night is scary, Nami"
"b-but the demons..?"
"Haruko!" Rengoku yelled as his son giggled, Namiko's eyes lighting up.
"Haruko! haruko!" She looked all over, no trace of him though. "Daddy come on!"
"tomorrow" i pushed her hair behind her ear and she frowned.
"but daddy-"
"Do you see how they run through the forest carelessly?"
she nodded and sat back next to me, playing with her fingers.
"that is exactly why i want you to become apart of the core once you are old enough" i lifted her chin. "not to follow in my foot steps, but to protect yourself. to be able to walk around without a care in the world from time to time"
"you have a beautiful gift, Namiko. from the minute you were born you were lighting stuff on fire from just looking at it too long" she giggled as i laughed softly.
"Do i have to become apart of the core?"
"i'll never teach you to please anybody but yourself, Nami. if you chose to become apart of the core, that is what you will do. if not, then you won't"
"I love you either way, Namiko Tomioka" she nodded.
"Nami?!" i heard making me turn my head, watching Namaari run outside quickly, her arms open as she ran to us. "oh my god you had me so worried.." she hugged nami tight, rubbing her back. "why would you follow your father outside! i told you-"
