Description:
The werekin are much like the fabled werewolves of Earth only they're not restricted to a particular species. One is capable of becoming a werekin should they get bitten or an open wound comes into contact with a werekin's blood(hence why werekin blood bags are labelled to prevent accidental infections). As for the disease responsible for this, it has always been referred to as the Werekin Curse as for much of Bravo Alpha's history, anyone who came down with it was considered to have been cursed and thus exiled from their homes. Today, werekin are generally accepted as members of the population though they have several guiding principles to keep from spreading the curse to others; namely there is an unspoken rule amongst werekin of only biting to kill as any nonlethal injuries inflicted by biting a target carries the risk of transferring the curse to the target. Their abilities are considered to be extraordinary, consisting of enhanced strength, speed, agility, intellect, and stamina making them highly coveted by militaries and PMCs alike as recruits. Their military prowess was demonstrated prior, during and after the WIlder War in-part thanks to combat actions performed by Leonard Thorne, Sampson Liang, and Jason Bartholemy, the former was a werekin from the beginning and the first of the latter was an accidental transformation while the second was willfully transformed. Although their kind has been made famous by canines, werekin can be any species including but not limited to: felines, avians, reptiles and various others. Oddly, despite the fact that the werekin curse affects most species, it notably hasn't affected any notable amphibian species as of yet. It's unknown as to why this is the case, though it has been theorized that they may or may not be immune to the curse itself though this is highly unlikely. However, there are several reports of multiple feral instances in the wild; scientific and medical evaluations have determined that these cases were the result of individuals going insane post transformation most likely because they weren't able to come to terms with their transformation hence why being able to connect with others, particularly friends and family after becoming a werekin is important.
Weaknesses: Like the fabled werewolves of Earth, werekin are vulnerable to silver weapons and munitions though it is possible for them to inoculate themselves against it by either ingesting trace amounts of the metal over a period of time, being in close proximity to it or wearing silver jewelry such as in the case of Sam. If an inoculated werekin where to transfer its curse to another person, the immunity is also transferred. As for most feral instances, massive cranial trauma, preferably administered via heavy caliber firearms, is more than enough to bring them down. As of current, there is no known way of bringing back a feral's original personality nor is there a cure to the Curse itself, though most werekin are reluctant to give up their abilities.

-Sam:
-Known as the Metal Reaper and as a notable member of TSR's Special Operations Team "Reapers" became a werekin by accident after an incident during his time in 8th Raider Battalion
-Thorne:
-Known by his callsign Hellhound and a well known member of the Reaper team, he has been a werekin for an indeterminate amount of time though it has been postulated that he has been one for at least 18 years though records of his past are sketchy at best.
-Jason:
-A Konan immigrant hailing from Montana, USA on Bravo Alpha, he was later adopted by Sam after losing his parents to a vicious warlord during the Battle of Montana City. He became a werekin willingly by his adoptive father and honed his skills with both him and Thorne.

Addendum 11/12/2310:
Following a more thorough exam performed by Samantha Keyes on Sam, Jason and Thorne, it was discovered that the catalyst for the DNA mutations was from a unique venom that werekin often generated in what are the upper two canine teeth in humans. The reason for this evolutionary trait is unknown and is still being investigated.
