Hello I have changed the cover of this book, let me know your opinions on it because I still don't know how to feel about it lmao

George POV:

We exit Clay's apartment building; hand in hand in comfortable silence. However, Clay drops my hand and walks around to the drivers side of his car. I stop in my place, crossing my arms against my chest with a small smile on my face. "Where do you think you're going?" I deadpan, raising my eyebrow in his direction. "Well uh- we are driving right?" He stutters, gesturing to his car. Releasing a breathy laugh I shake my head with amusement, whilst waving Clay back towards me. I can tell he's slightly embarrassed by his small mistake so I make no effort to humiliate him more.

This time I decide to link arms with him, definitely only for warmth and no other reason. I chuckle aloud "What are you giggling about?" Clay asks, pulling me closer with just his arm. Hot. Shut up. "Nothing of your concern" I poke at him, smiling giddily. "Sounds like whatever it was it was pretty funny-" I cut him off "Whatever, lets get walking I'm freezing" I say beginning a slow stroll, dragging Clay along beside me.

"You're freezing? Want me to quickly run back up to grab you something warm?" He asks, already letting go of my arm. I'm quick to latch onto the sleeve of his jacket "I'll be alright, it's not a long walk to the restaurant" I offer him a smile. Even if I am freezing my ass off, I don't want to make Clay go up there by himself. Watching as Clay thinks for a moment before a cheeky grin makes its way to his face "How about you..how about you just wear my jacket?" He says, already pulling his arm out of his sleeve.

I blush at his offer, hoping the night sky would make it less obvious. However the street lamp above us is certainly not helping. "Then you'll get cold, like I said we're almost-" he cuts me off this time "I insist" He smiles, tearing his jacket completely off. Shyly nodding, I reach to grab his jacket out of his hand.

If I wasn't already blushing before, I definitely am now. Putting the jacket on, looking anywhere but Clay's face, I rejoin our arms and we continue are walk. I must admit, wearing his jacket is everything I ever needed and more. Okay, thats a little dramatic. However, having his strong scent constantly evident is something I could get used too. The one time I do look up at Clay, I notice he's lost in his own head with a small smile visible, paired with painfully tinted cheeks. This again causing me to break out a smile. Gosh my cheeks hurt from all this stupid smiling.

After a few minutes we're standing outside the restaurant. By the looks of it, it isn't as busy as I thought it would be. I lead us to the front entrance, opening the door with my free hand. A waitress approaches us. "Good evening, have you booked a reservation?" She's asks with a polite smile. "Uh- no I was hoping we could get a table for two?" I ask hopefully. Shit did I need to book a table? My worries were gone quicker then they came "No problem sir, right this way" She says, guiding us to a booth towards the back of the restaurant.

Clay sits down first. Do I sit next to him or opposite him? I decide on sitting next to him, not missing the smile on his face, and placing his jacket across from us. We thank the waiter, busying ourselves in the menus in front of us. "What are you thinking of ordering?" Clay asks from beside me, closing his menu. "I'm stuck between the beef burger and the nachos" I set my menu down. Clay ponders for a moment "Well I was going to go with the nachos anyways, so if you get the burger we can share so you can have both" He suggests, now fiddling with the small salt packets. "I'm not normally one to share my food" I state, watching as Clay furrows his eyebrows "But I suppose I can for you".

"What do you mean for me? I'm doing this for you, because your picky ass can't decide!" He exclaims, chucking the packet in his hands directly into my face. "Shut up stupid simp" I tease slapping his shoulder. I try to catch attention of a nearby waiter, hoping one will come soon since I can literally hear my empty stomach.

A short, ginger waitress makes her way over to us. She arrives at our table, obnoxiously giggling whist staring between the two of us. Her eyes are mostly fixated on Clay though. Oh god, I'm going to have to sit here and endure these two flirting- "Hey cutie" She says, giggling for what felt like the fiftieth time tonight. I sigh and lift my head up preparing to watch her and Clay chat. But when I raise my eyes to hers I notice she's looking right at me. "Oh me? Um" I pause "Hello" I mentally slap myself. It's not like I'm trying to impress her or anything- I'm literally gay. But it wouldn't hurt for me to at least try and not make a fool of myself.

I feel Clay awkwardly shuffle beside me. "What do you want to eat, love" She bats her eyelashes at me. Love? Are you kidding me. I glance in Clays direction, trying to get his attention. However, noticing he's glaring down in his lap with clenched fists. Uh okay? Thanks for the help. My attention focuses back on the girl, trying to keep my face neutral. Visibly gulping, I begin "Well can I have the burger please and a glass of water" I wait for Clay to say his order but he doesn't. Rolling my eyes I order for him "And he'll have the nachos with a soda- we're sharing" I smile. I don't know why I even added that we were sharing on, but I shrug it off. "You're sharing? Hm alright. Your food will be out in a bit" She says, grabbing my shoulder whilst leaning over the table; her chest right in my face, to grab our menus.

My face flushes and I busy myself with picking at the skin around my fingernails. Clay huffs beside me "Um she was pretty, looks like she was into you" He mutters, awkwardly bumping my shoulder with his. Why is he acting so strange? "Hm not really my type" I subtly add, looking up to him. He meets my eyes and offers a smile "How come?" He asks. Oh god he's on to me. Panicking, I make up an excuse "Uh- not really into gingers" I lie, chuckling. His smile widens and we quickly fall into casual conversation.

The same, sickening waitress returns with our food in her hands. "Here's your food, hope you enjoy handsome" She says seductively, acting like Clay wasn't even next to me. I nod my head, getting ready to thank her. However, I feel an arm slip round my shoulder, pulling me closer to the boy next to me. Clay keeps his arm there protectively, whilst speaking up "Thanks for the food" He mumbles, giving her a fake smile. She scoffs and walks off. My face is burning at this point, Clays arm still wrapped around me while he takes a sip of his drink.

"How do you want to do this, want me to put half the nachos on your plate and vice versa?" He asks. I shake my head, reaching over to eat a nacho off the plate in front of him "No its fine, we can just eat off both plates if thats okay?" I query, moving my plate closer to the middle. "Of course" He grins, eating the fries off my plate.

After some while, our plates are empty and we are once again trying to get the attention of a waiter, praying its a different one from last time. Luckily, a different waitress came and took our plates with a polite smile. Clay asks for the bill and before we know it we're walking towards the exit. "Hey, wait!" I hear from behind me, instantly recognising that same disgustingly sweet voice. However, I act like I didn't hear her and continue our way to the door. But then a hand grabs my shoulder and turns me around. "Heres my number, call my sometime cutie" She smirks, handing me a slip of paper. Without hearing my answer she turns and walks away, swaying her hips with each step.

Rolling my eyes once again, I drag Clay out the building. Noticing Clay is being extra quiet I speak up "You alright?" I ask, linking arms with him as I feel the cold nip at my ears. It looks like he's in his own world, not paying any attention to me. I nudge his side "Hm? Oh me- yeah no I'm fine" He attempts to smile. I scoff "Yeah okay idiot" I mutter, continuing our stroll. We remain in silence for the next few seconds "Are you actually going to call her?" He asks shyly, looking down at his feet. My heart melts at his tone. I reach into my back pocket for the piece of paper. "Like I said" I began, tearing the note up, letting go of Clays arm and walking to the closest trash can "She's not my type". I say, before chucking the paper into the trash.
