Set right before Emma walks into the diner in 5x01
I watched from a distance as Granny's Diner touched down in Storybrooke. I winced due to my entire family laying unconscious in that diner. I could see them all waking up.
I should go to them
No
Please, they're my family! I have to know if they're okay!
No, they are no family to you
I can feel you struggling for control. Ha, weakling.
No! I will not let you hurt my family!
I stared out at the street, poofing down to the bottom of the building.
I could feel Emma's longing, Emma's pain, her hope, so I crushed it. I turned her eyes into shards of ice, hardening her heart, masking her features.
"Why are you doing this?"
I could feel what I wanted to say. I'm doing this for you, Killian! I love you! But I could feel the darkness pushing and pulling and stabbing my brain. I know what it wants me to say. I know what it will make me do. In the small corner of my mind that is still mine I curl up to cry.
"Because, I am the Dark One."
The Darkness laughs
