Water dripped onto the floor, a white noise in the desolate building. With Nick Fury on the bed in front of them, each were sat around waiting for his next orders.
Alexander Pierce becoming Hydra was a shock to all of them, more so black widow and Fury. Yet they knew something was off about him anyways.
"We'll need someone with inside information," Fury began as he shifted weakly, "we won't be able to get through all the barriers quick enough with just agent Hill's skills"
As soon as Fury said those words, Natasha knew where this conversation was headed. Who they needed to get to in order for this mission to be successful.

"Nobody knows where she is" Natasha said carefully, wincing as she shifted her recently treated shoulder.
There was almost a gleam in Fury's eyes, as if he wanted to make them look for the woman in question. Of course he did, she was a skilled agent who was unaccounted for. Without their interference, it wouldn't be long till Hydra, through Pierce, would get their claws back into her. Natasha had thought about this, though.
"Who?" Steve asked, clueless on the hidden conversation the pair seemed to be engaged in.
"She goes by shadow, because nobody can keep track of her. Nor can they catch her" Fury spoke, looking towards Captain America briefly.
The blonde seemed agitated and frustrated, likely because of the winter soldiers identity.

"So, how are we meant to find her?" Sam asked, lips pulled into a frown at the words.
Out of the five in the room, only two knew how to even begin looking for someone who doesn't want to be found. With this amount, they didn't have the time to look for this woman.
"Well, she is an agent. Off the grid," Fury explained in thought, "though her sister is an agent. She'll likely know her location"
The black widow frowned to herself, crossing one leg over the other as she became immersed in her thoughts. Neither of the Alinsky sisters would help them. At least not her.

"Great, get her ass down here" Sam said, trying to keep a relaxed façade up.
The room fell silent at his words. Fury glanced to Maria for a few long seconds and then Natasha. They shared another silent gaze, this time more accusatory.
"But we'd be lucky if either agreed to help," Natasha spoke up, "we have...a complicated past"
Agitation and unrest grew in the room, the main source being Steve. The chance to stop Hydra seemed to be slipping away the longer they stood talking hypothetically.
"To take down Hydra, they'll agree. Trust me" Fury said, causing the three to look at him with slight incredulous eyes.
Trust him after faking his death? But of course he'd say that.

---------------------------------

Natasha leant back, giving herself a moment to think whilst the room was empty. She wished, during that conversation, that she could predict Maeve's moves still. To know her hideouts, the places she'd go when going off the grid. Once, years ago, she did.
Like the back of her hand, she could read Maeve. Know her moves, her ever changing locations. Most of the time, Natasha was shifting those locations with her. Now...now there was only a small hope they'd find the woman who knew the Hydra systems inside and out. All these years, the older Alinksky remembered the systems like they were muscle memory. She kept under the radar in their systems, avoiding detection but scything information from them.

Thalia on the other hand, whilst Natasha and her were on decent terms as of late, it still wasn't as good as they had once been. After all, it's Natasha's fault that her sister fled into hiding. Yet perhaps from Fury, Thalia would obey the orders.
"Damn, it's all a mess" she huffed with a frown.

(A/N): So really short first chapter but I didn't want to cram everything in the first chapter because it would've gone on too long. I just wanted to set up the story.
Thanks for reading!
