One with the Moon

Prolog:

I see my next victim, my next meal. A small deer, scrawny, yet delightful to the tongue. I skalk slowly with caution in my step. It has not heard me yet. I see bearclaw over to the side. It is time to take action and bring down the deer. The next thing I know it my teeth are sinking into a panicky deer.

"Blacktip, get its neck," Bearclaw barks to Backtip.

"On it," Blacktip howls. I find my side getting scraped up by a hoof and a let go. The pain is bearable so I lach back on. Blacktip kills his first deer. He gets to haul it back to camp. On the way back me and Bearclaw discuss his position in moontribe

"So Darkscar" Bearclaw goes on" He follows rules and is not a bad hunter. I think he can be placed in a higher position. Maybe hunter or scout."

I look at Bearclaw " bearclaw I am going to let you decide in this one you have learned and are capable of making decisions for the tribe."

" Thank you Darkscar" Bearclaw says then walks off. I walk up to Tall rock and lay on the cool ground. Being leader is a big task. I look towards tribe peak, the highest mountain within the four rivers. I find myself looking at Swallowtail, the smallest of the wolf of them all. I love her the same as the rest of the tribe.

She is trying to catch a squirrel. She just keeps trying. The tribe could use a few more wolves like her. Blueheart is carrying a large rabbit and throws it on the feasting rock. That is where the food goes. Nobody touches it till night fall.

I stand and walk to Blueheart.

"How are you Darkscar" She says with her head held high.

" Fine, I'm in deep thought about Swallowtail." I say to Blueheart. Blueheart is the Proxy of moontribe. She is one of the strongest wolves I've had a chance to know.

" What about Swallowtail?" Blueheart asks.

" Well, assigning day is coming and I don't know if Swallowtail is ready" I tell Blueheart. She looks at Swallowtail, still trying to catch the squirrel." I'm going to let Bearclaw decide for blacktip, maybe this could become a new trend, letting the mentors decide for their pupils. What do you think Blueheart?" Regardless of what Blueheart says to me I like the idea.

"I think thats a great idea Darkscar" She says " Shall I let the mentors Know about your decision?".

" No I am going to call a meeting". She nods then leaves. I will call the meeting at sundown.
