She's loud & funny & sarcastic
She seems happy
And maybe she is
Right then and there
She bursts into laughter
Or makes a sarcastic remark
Right then and there
She's not thinking about how
she'll go home and wonder
if anyone really likes her at all
She's not thinking about how
she'll sob into her pillow so
no one will hear
And she'll wish she had someone
that cared and heard her cry
What? People that are depressed
can't enjoy anything
they don't smile
they're just a big bummer
Well that's the lie
you see
She can laugh
She can smile
She'll even make jokes
She'll even laugh so hard
her stomach hurts
But little do you know
how she really spends her nights
Maybe she's happy then and there
She can still enjoy happy things
Smile at things that are beautiful
Her best friend,
they refer to each other as sisters
But even she doesn't know
How fully broken her sister feels
Her best friend, she's been replaced
Not in her heart but just in her mind
And takes physical place
No one could replace her
But surely she won't be back soon
She left the state because of dad's job
So her knife and her have a talk
Instead of a late night best friend call
Or maybe her mind just talks
Does anyone even love me at all
She wonders
Wouldn't everyone be better off without me
She yells but not out loud
Her head is pounding with the headache
That she gave herself
From bottling up everything
From crying so much she's dehydrated now
If only we all could sometimes
Run out into a field and scream for a while.
