    Victory used to be what she strived for. Every day, every night. She dreamt of it, breathed it in. It was what was always on her mind, what she was built of, what her weapon reaped. Fiona Midgrass used to grit her teeth and fight for her ambitions; she trained until she dropped, she sweated until she could no longer. She was fury, she was chaos, she was havoc. That is, until she fell into Tartarus.

Now, what she strived for was survival. Not just for herself, but for Percy Jackson, too. Fiona and Percy have to travel through the belly of the beast to reach the end and close the Doors of Death. In through a hell that only wanted to kill them, make them suffer, and remind them that no one, not even the gods, could survive its insides.

She was going to win. But she wasn't going to win for herself. Her and Percy will both win. It was the only way they could get through this, was to win and survive together. They will get out through the other end, no matter how many times they wanted to drop and declare, that's it, I give up.
