-- Elara --
age: 5 years"Alright, hon. Are you ready for kindergarten?" My mother asked.
"Mmm mm mmhm!" I shouted, but my words muffled by very delicious yogurt melting in my tongue.
"Good! Go grab your bag and come to the car. I put your lunchie in there already." She responded, picking up the car keys.
I ran to the car, leaving my backpack, and unfortunately, my half-finished yogurt.
"Are you ready?" My mother said in a sing-song tune.
"Yes, yes, yes-yes-yes!" I grinned with joy.
"Let's go!"
We drove to Boditon Elementary School, minutes before it started.
My mother pulled out her phone, checking the schedule.
"So, Class 3D. You have Ms. Clara as your teacher," My mother read aloud from her phone, "Put on your bag and I'll help you adjust it."
"Um. I pogot my bag."
"Forgot." She corrected.
"Fffpogot." I said, nodding my head.
"Wait, what?! You forgot your bag?" My mother exclaimed, looking up from her phone.
"Yes mama. I pogot my bag." I said, looking at her as if she was a loon. I said that nearly 3 times already!
"Are you freaking kidding me? Now I gotta go back, and your class is already started, and oh god, my interview is in ten minutes and ..." She rambled.
After rambling for a good ten seconds, she faced me.
"Okiedokes darling, here's the plan. Go to your class, it's right there," She said, pointing to the classroom in front of us, "I'll drop off your bag later and explain everything. Got it?"
I merely jumped out of the car.
"Freaking", I said, before sprinting away cheekily to my classroom.
"You littl-" was all I heard before I stepped into my classroom.
I was met with six students sitting on a rainbow carpet, and a smiling face from a very, very tall woman.
"Hello, darling! I am Miss Clara. What is your name?" She asked sweetly.
"Ewawa." I said, confidently.
"Elara? What a beautiful name. Ah, there you are," she said, checking off my name from the attendance list, "Perfect! Go sit right there at blue square."
I trailed my eyes to where she was pointing. There was a young boy on the left of my seat, and another girl behind.
I walked over, sitting silently for a split second before I was greeted by a sparkling girl.
"Hi! I is Cohdeweah! Is nice to meet you Ewala!" The girl brightly shone.
I wanted to smile back, but I honestly couldn't pronounce her name. Well shoot.
"Hi Co..." I mumbled, "It's nice to meet you too!"
I looked up apprehensively, hoping she didn't notice my very obvious mumble.
When I realized she kept on talking, I internally sighed of relief.
Then, I heard a snicker.
I whirled around, my bitch eyes ready for an argument.
It was the boy on the left of me.
"What waf that." I stated.
"What waf that." He imitated.
I tilted my head sideways in confusion.
"You can't even pro- pronun- pronoununicne your words wight." He scoffed.
Ms. Clara, who was about to start class, put a hand on the boy's shoulder.
"It's pronounce, dear. And we're all here to learn!" she said.
Then, she turned to the whole class.
"All right class, hello! I'm Miss Clara. Let's all start my introducing ourselves. So, first let's have..."
Ms. Clara's words went through one ear and out the other.
The boy who tried correcting me was red with embarrassment. He saw me looking at him with the you-really-tried-your-best-huh?that-was-pretty-sad look. He contorted his face into a scowl, but I simply turned away.
And snickered.
