The day Kylian had been waiting for finally arrived. He was woken up by an officer early morning and taken to the warden. "Go prepare yourself Mr. Kassady, you're going home." Kylian stood there, dumbfounded. "Jeez warden, I don't know what to say. Thank you so so much." he appreciated the warden with his elegant British accent.
"No, thank you for not causing trouble. I'm sure your twin brother will be so happy to see you. Go wear your civilian clothes before I change my mind."The officer smiled at him as he watched Kylian being escorted by two officers to a room. He took a bath, changed into his suit and combed his ginger hair. As soon he was outside the building, he felt like his life unpaused—as if he had resurrected. Ouch! The bright hot sun was burning his eyes, but he liked it...he liked that feeling. The caged door was opened for him and he was on the other side of the fence separating earth from hell, he felt like joy was torturing him; the last time he remembered smiling was after his 14th birthday. He quickly hoped on one of the red double-decker buses and headed for Castle Park.
Meanwhile, Kirk and Kate were trying to adapt to the absence of both parents. Bellamy was buried two weeks ago. They did not have any jobs when Bell was alive; but they are thinking of how to get employed in order to provide for themselves and baby Brian. Kirk was more desperate for a job than Kate and he had been spending those two weeks on the couch, scrolling through his laptop to search a job for the both of them. "Kate, what do you think about being a ...wait for it..." he said as he clapped. "A chemical engineer. I mean they are so well paid with a sum of 32,153 sterling pounds."
"If only I was serious in chemistry class." Kate said with a plastered smile.
"Okaaaay, how about neurosurgeon?"
"Really Kirk. I haven't gone to university yet. So I can't handle these big jobs if I haven't done a course for them, right?"
"Yeah, you are right but we can't stay here and do nothing. We'll have to do something to get enough money for you to continue with your university and to take care of Brian. We can at least get low paying jobs like being a waiter in a three star hotel or a cleaner or a baby-sitter."
Kate let out a heavy sigh. "Yeah, we can go for that alternative."
As the two were thinking aloud to each other, Kylian on the other hand was enjoying his bus ride, he looked through the window, enjoying the smooth breeze and admiring the green grass. After thirty one minutes of travel, the bus stopped at the station for the passengers to alight. He took a deep breath, enjoying the nice air. "I remember slashing grass in Prison Industry. I guess I'm never going back there." he said to himself as he lay and spread his arms and legs on the vast grass. He also bought himself a magnum double raspberry ice-cream for the road.
Kylian could remember where he used to live with his family, he remembered the color of the mansion and the distinctive brass wind vane with a cockerel at the top of the roof. Lucky him, the estate where they lived was not quite far from the park, so he took heart and started trekking. Clifford Estate went under a lot of changes when Kylian was away; more houses were introduced to the estate, new roads that connected the estate to roads to Oxford, Cardiff and Southampton, new neighbors and playful kids riding bicycles and others chasing one another along the pavements. His memory suddenly took him back to where he was playing with Kirk and Kate, playing hide-and-seek all over Bellamy's mansion. He dwelt in this memory until he accidentally bumped on a woman carrying grocery bags. The bags fell from her hands and the veggies spilled on the ground. Kylian immediately threw himself to the ground to help her pick her bags.
"My sincerest apologies madam. Clumsy me." At this point they had finished collecting the fallen veggies and put them in the grocery bags.
"No,it's okay. It was just an....." the lady's georgous blue eyes and Kylian's connected as they were rising together from the ground. The lady had a toned body, beautifully tall, had ginger hair just as Kylian's and looked like she was in her mid 20's (probably 23). Kylian's conscience echoed 'goddamn' by the woman's beauty.
"......accident. Anyways, you're new here right? I mean I'm familiar with almost everyone who lives here and I have never seen you before."
"Ammm yeah I'm new. I just...uh...moved here...two days ago." Kylian lied. "Oh, my name is Kylian by the way. Kylian......Chronos" He extended his hand for a handshake and the lady happily shook his hand.
"Marlene....Marlene Buckley. I live here." she pointed at a teal maisonette that was just beside them. "Oh...I didn't know." said Kylian as he chuckled together with Marlene. "Welcome to Clifford Estate, Kylian."
"Thank you." Kylian could not take his eyes off her. She was too beautiful even to be assumed by the passers-by who were walking on the pavement where they were standing. Marlene looked at the sky and her eyes widened then looked back at Kylian. "You should probably get going, looks like there's gonna be a huge storm this evening." Kylian looked at the grey sky with dark rain-bearing clouds. "Yeah, I should. See you around?"
"See you around." she said as she turned towards her house. Kylian walked a few metres from their conversation point before he stopped and slapped his forehead really hard. He then turned and faced Marlene who was busy shuffling through her bunch of keys to find the one to her door. "Marlene?" She immediately looked at Kylian. "I might have forgotten where I live."
"What!?"
"I can't remember exactly where my house is. Clifford Estate is so huge and...." he sighed. "....I can't really recall the road to take to get there..."
"Well, do you know your address?"
"Yes, it's... it's" Kylian was struggled to remember the address until he finally got it. "AC5H 6EW."
"AC5H 6EW. Wait, that's the Kassady's address."
"My house is just next to theirs. I kinda haven't mastered my address yet."
"Okaaaaay, it's just down this road, follow it till you arrive at a junction then turn right. The Kassady's house will be the first on your left once you make the turn. I bet your house should be along that road."
"Thank you so so much."
"Yeah, you should hurry." Marlene said as she was pointing up.
"Yeah, see you around." Kylian waved at her and started running down the road as the clouds were growing darker. He should be home before he gets wet.
