Running. Running fast down the deep dark hallway, that has nothing but the strong scent of dark red blood. Running. The echo of the footsteps that belong to my faceless captors following me. Then i find myself at a dead end. The hallway that once seemed endless sadly just ended. I pounded on the black wall until my fist bled. Screaming. I turned around--startled by seeing the empty faces of my captors. I screamed for help, sadly no one could hear me. Then he appears death himself with his dark red eyes. He lifted a bony arm and reached for me I screamed again and thrashed away. Then, it all faded, into darkness.

My eyes open. I was sitting. But on what? I couldn't see anything but the four black walls. Then he walked in from some place in the wall. He sits down like me on nothing. "Hello Miss....." He said while looking in a large dusty book floating in the air "Erin Black". "uh" I uttered trying not to sound nervous and scared "Hi...".

"Miss Black do you know why you are here?" He asked."No not really" I said my heart starting to race "I don't know where I am or why I'm here or who you are or what we--". "I understand how confused you are" He speaks calmly "all your questions will be answer soon". "Ok can I at least know who you are". "I do not have just one name but most" He looks up from the floating book "call me death"

Alarms go off in my head I need to get out of here somehow. "so is this all you need to Know?". "no where am I?". " they call this dark place The Gate the one place between heaven and hell. once you have died you are taken to the choosing room where you will be chosen to go to heaven or to hell". "O then why am I here?" I asked getting anxious. "Erin do you remember getting in a car crash?". "Um" I thought for a second. I remember the humorous blue pick up crashing into my Toyota. The windshield exploding on the impact of my body flying out. My limp figure thrown across the hood of the pick up. I shutter at the thought.

"sort of" I say finally.

"Will Miss Black when this car crash happened you were put into a coma." he looks at me "you are laying in a bed at memorial as we speak" he looks back at the book.

"You can't be serious" I say.

"I am serious and the reason you are is because of your history in life" He turns the book toward me and points to the writing under my name "I must make a deal with you" he closes the book and continues "You can either die and go to hell or help a person who is in need in other words a guardian angel" He takes out a piece of paper and a pencil from his pocket and handed it to me. The paper had two words on it: GUARDIAN and HELL.

He looks at me and says calmly "You have one chance to make the right choice."

I looked at the piece of paper then back at death. He stares straight at me--not moving an inch. I looked at the paper again his words replaying in my mind "you have one chance to make the right choice". I circled one and handed the paper to him. He grabbed it not taking his dark eyes off of me. I watched as the paper turned to ashes in his bony hands. "Good choice" he says

Death stands "Lets go" he says turning towards the wall behind him. I stand up and run after him. He walks through the wall. I push in after Him. Before I go all the way through I see the dusty book disappear behind us. On the other side it looked as if there was a whole other city in the gate as he called it. Rows of buildings and what looked to be houses. People walking on the sidewalks. At least I think they are people. They walk but they don't have eyes or noses or mouths or ears just a blank white face with long arms and legs and they all are hunched over. Like slender man.

"Come on" says death "down the stairs" he gestures to a very, very, VERY long staircase to the ground of the gate

"gosh do you people even know what an elevator is!?" I say surprised. death just stares at me looking confused. I let lot a long sigh and start to walk down the stairs. As I walked down them I watched the strange slender like men walk into abnormal buildings and walk around with boxes and some other things that I could not make out. When I finally reached the bottom of the stairwell

I say breathing heavy "..... you guys............should really....... invent elevators.......... seriously" I sit down on the bottom step.

He turns around and looks at me and says "No time to rest must go now" He sounded serious.

"Oh come on" I say "I just walked down 50 flights of stairs!".

" Oh it was only 40 gosh" he says rolling his eyes
