Ava sighed, pushing a piece of her black hair away from her face, she used her free dainty hand to rub the tiredness out of her eyes. Her tired hooded eyes looked down at the different pieces of paper that were sprawled across her table. She peeked up at the old wooden clock that was hanging crookedly on her wall, as a small gasp of realisation hit her as she noticed the time.
"Shit," she muttered under her breath, her clumsy hands quickly picking up the important pieces of information that she needed before placing them back into her folder. Ava quickly grabbed the other pieces of paper that she didn't need, placing them into a different folder.
She grasped the folder rushing down to her bedroom to dump the useless folder on the already messy cabinet. Her eyes flicked up to the small mirror placed opposite her. Her lifeless porcelain skin stared back at her, dark dull bags laid under her dull green eyes. Her dry pink lips were chapped, in fact everything about Ava seemed chipped.
Sighing she quickly grabbed her make up bag, grabbing the applications that she needed to make herself look at least decent and to try cover up the sleepless and traumatic night she had before.
After a few minutes of swiping the mixture of foundation, blush, eyeshadow and mascara, she looked somewhat acceptable to leave. She grabbed a bobby pin, clipping back her fringe before grabbing her coat and briefcase that she needed.
As she arrived at her destination, she looked around the estate that was around her. Large houses were situated beside each other, each brick layer different from the other, making the houses stand out more.
Ava turned off the ignition, taking her keys out of the slot before placing them in her other hand, she placed her hand on the handle of the door pushing it open before stepping out.
Once she stepped out she immediately locked her car, placing her car keys in her bag. She wrapped her warm coat tighter around her petite body, protecting her from the cool air around her. Her new black heels against the pavement were the only sound as she walked the short distance to the house.
Ava cursed the strong wind around her as she moved the hair out of her face repeatedly for it only to be blown back into her face once again. Loose strands of hair sticking to her lips because of the gloss that was placed on them.
Ava stood in front of unknown house, her eyes glancing around before taking a deep breath and placing her finger on the doorbell. She stepped back waiting patiently for someone to answer the door. As she looked around the silent neighbourhood, she heard the lock turn on the door and open which she turned her attention back to.
Her breath hitched in her throat as her eyes landed on the warm chocolate brown eyes that she had not been expecting to see. This is obviously a joke, I mean there was no way that this was the right house?
Ava could feel the panic rise in her throat as her eyes locked with the eyes that she hadn't seen in two years. His eyes were staring back with the same amount of shock, his mouth opened but no words seemed to be able to come out, they both stared at each other, eyes glued to one another, the only sound was their breathing and the harsh wind that was flapping Ava's hair around like a windmill.
"I'm guessing you're the wedding planner! I'm Katie, thank you so much for coming on such short notice, I'm sorry but what's your name again?"
Ava quickly diverted her eyes from the dark chocolate ones, to light blue eyes. There stood a woman probably around her age, her long messy blonde hair thrown up into a bun, her make up perfectly applied, she was stunning, making Ava's self esteem drop and making her chest tighten.
"It's Ava, and no problem, I'm glad that I can help with your special day," Ava gritted out, her stomach twisting with every word she said.
"Well come in, I'm sure we have so much to plan! I'll stick the kettle on, Zayn will show you the way in," Katie smiled warmly at Ava before turning around leaving Ava and Zayn alone once again.
"Um, yeah, come in Ava," Zayn stuttered slightly, opening the door more so Ava could step in.
"Long time no see, you look different," Zayn commented, taking Ava's jacket, their hands briefly touching. Ava flinched away quickly before clearing her throat.
"So have you Zayn, it's nice to see you again." Ava commented, looking up to Zayn again. His eyes were transfixed on her, like he couldn't believe that she was here, believe that the girl who was once his best friend and lover was standing in front of him.
They both shared an awkward smile, the only thing swarming around in Ava's mind was red danger signs signalling to her that she couldn't do this, there was no way that she was going to be able to plan Zayn's wedding, it wasn't going to be possible.
I mean, it was impossible to plan the wedding for the man that was once your best friend and lover, right?
