Epilogue!

Ponyboy's phone was ringing. He answered it.
"Wassup, dawg?" It was Sodapop.
"Nothing. Getting ready for the wedding."
"Oh yeah, that's right. It's today."
"Yeah."
"Do you need me to call back?"
"No. Johnny's ironing my shirt. I have a few minutes."
"How is Johnny?"
"Good."
"True love?"
"Shut up."
"How is it, bro?"
"What?"
"I don't know. Being with Johnny."
"It's freeing. He makes me feel happy."
"Great. That's all I want for you."
"Okay, listen, Sodapop, I have to go, but it was nice talking to you."
"Great hearing from you too, Pony."
Ponyboy hung up the phone.
Johnny was in the doorway holding Ponyboy's shirt. He put it on. Johnny buttoned it up. The walked out the door and up the street. Brian and Keith were getting married in the 24 hour grocery mart. Johnny and Ponyboy walked there hand in hand. Displaying their love to the world.

The service was lovely. Keith and Brian wore matching suits but different ties, a blue bow tie for Keith and a purple the with rubber ducks for Brian. They vowed to love each other, forever. Ponyboy knew, with or without a wedding, his love for Johnny would be eternal. The reception was nice. Johnny and Ponyboy talked to Keith and Brian for a while. They were honeymooning in Spain and Portugal. Johnny stood by Ponyboy the whole day.

They walked home through the park. It was longer, but nicer. They stopped to sit on a bench.
"Today was a good day." Johnny said.
"Yes, it was." Ponyboy agreed.
"Keith and Brian looked very handsome."
"Do I have competition?"
"No because the whole time I was looking at you."
"You flatter me."
"I just tell the truth." Johnny said. He leaned over and kissed Ponyboy's cheek.
"I love you." Johnny said
"And I you." Ponyboy replied
"I wanted to talk about that actually, our love."
"Okay."
"I don't think, even if I wanted to, I could ever stop loving you. I don't just love you with my heart, I love you with my soul too. Every kiss we share and every time you even look at me, I think I get a little piece of you in my soul and I love you even more. I love you so much I think I light explode. Somedays, I feel my love for you gushing out of my ears. You make me happy and I want to spend the rest of my life with you, I don't think anyhting will ever change my mind. So," Johnny slid off the bench and onto the ground, "will you marry me?"

Ponyboy was staring at Johnny. He could hear what Keith had said to him. That he would know who he wanted to marry. And he wanted this boy in front of him. This perfect boy. Ponyboy slid off the bench and kneeled next to Johnny.
He cupped his face in his hands.
"Johnny, I love you. So so so much. I will love you forever and for always. Of course I will marry you!" They were both crying. Tears were streaming down both their faces. Johnny slid a ring onto Ponyboy's finger and he wrapped his arms around him. Ponyboy was so happy. He had never been this happy. He would never be this happy again.
