The sky was painted a beautiful peach as my hands entwined with my boyfriend's. We weren't doing much, just walking along the coastline where the waters were shallow but I was happy. I would go anywhere if it means that I can be with him. The water washed up towards my feet and released them in such a motion, the feel of the cool sea water calming me instantly. My hand gripped onto Will's tightly and he turns his head slightly and smiles at me. He looked incredibly perfect. The sun hit the right bit of his face and the wind was racing through his hair, making him look like he was someone you'd expect to be on the cover of a magazine. But then again, he was always like that. Perfect. I didn't deserve someone as sweet and gently and loving as him. Will brought the best in me, held me when I cried, laughed when I was happy and celebrated when I achieved. He was one of those people that are special. Precious. Perfect.
We reached a part of the beach that we liked. It was under a few palm trees, concealed from the world. Nobody could see us and that's how they like it. Society, of course. I wouldn't dare go outside and face the cruel words society spit out at you and taunt you with. They cause nightmare's. Fear. Paranoia. It can make you loose the will to go on, to live, to have hope. Society does the worst things to you and it can lead to the worst things. That's why we hide our relationship. Because society can't accept us, gays, lesbians, bisexuals, transsexuals. We're people too and we deserve at least the freedom that everyone else has. It's not just us: anorexic, depressed, emo, even those who try to lead a normal life are searched until they find a fault. Race, religion, sexuality. Anything they can critizise.
Will's bi. He came out over a year ago and even though he's popular, he gets teased and bullied about it a lot in school. I'm gay. I've tried to act straight by going on dates with all different kinds of girls and have the occasional one night stand but that all changed when Will cornered me in the locker room and we both felt something inside of us. We became a couple secretly a few months later. If anyone was to find out, things would be bad in school. I'd probably be beaten up, and so would Will, but not as much as some people feared him. I'd be living in a virtual hell.
The sunset had concealed itself into the horizon and it was replaced with a glittery sky. Its patterns reflected onto us from the sea, making everything around us look glittery and magical. Will's eyes, those deep, blue, beautiful eyes, had now gone a softer blue and it sparkled. I smiled, wondering how on earth I had managed to get such a perfect boyfriend. He's what made all the effort worth it.
"Let's go, Jake." He said, smiling cutely and tugging at my sleeve. I wish we could be here forever but not all dreams come true. I got up and brushed myself off and offered him my hand. He blushed slightly and held onto it and we both laughed before walking back, hand in hand, smiles on our faces, happiness in our hearts.

At least, until society comes into the picture.
