"Yo, what was that dude?" Luke pushed me slightly on the shoulder.
"Yeah Maddox, what the fuck? What did she do?" Taylor asked me.
I don't know. I don't know what came over me. I don't know why I yelled at her. I don't know why I didn't go after her. The hurt in her eye wanted to make me punch myself in the face. I've known this girl for two weeks. Why do I feel sorry then? I may be a loner when I'm not with my friends but when it comes to girls, I don't give two fucks. Girls have been pouncing themselves on me and didn't care for even two seconds and now I do?
"Maddox?"
Sam's voice rung through my ears.
"You need to apologise to her, bro."
I put my hands on my head and dug my palms in my hair.
"Yeah, I do. I'll, uh, do it tomorrow. Otherwise it will seem like I care. Which I don't."
"Dude, you know you don't have to pretend with us. Even if it's it's bros before hoes, we can see you care what the girl thinks."
Luke could really be unbelievable sometimes.
"Did you just call Natalie a hoe?""No! No! Oh god no. All the other desperate girls but her."
"Whatever. I'm leaving now, dad wants me early for dinner."
Before leaving for the skatepark, my dad had told me that he wanted to talk to me about something important. It's always nothing but business with him. I guess that's why he became a businessman. I made a mental note to myself to not become one of the serious workaholic dads when it came to my kids.
Mine and Natalie's kids. Sounds really good.Too bad that's impossible.
My parents had come from one of their business trips in New York this morning so now I would have to listen all about how Joe didn't sign the contract on the right page and how Kaitlyn, my moms assistant always fucks up her coffee.
Don't get me wrong, I think my parents are great. It would be better if they could just listen to me and spend some time to actually get to know me. I've changed my ways so much and they haven't even question why there wasn't a new girl in bed everyday. So much for caring.
I reach home with all my messed up thoughts at the back of my head to make space for all the bullshit my parents are going to put in my head in the coming hour."Mom, dad, I'm home!" I call out.
"We're here son!" I hear my dads voice coming from the kitchen as I make my way there.
"Oh good, you're here. I was worried you would be boinking one of the girls in your school again" my mom says.
"Oh my god Mother! You know I'm not that type of person now."
"Jess, give it a rest. Maddox, your mother and I want to talk to you about something important. I expect your undivided attention here, alright?"
I rub my forehead, "Yeah dad, you'll have my full attention. What is it that you wanted to talk about?"
"You might want to sit down, Maddox" my mother warns.
"So, as you know, your mother and I have been taking more business trips than usual. That's because we're in the middle of a huge sale that could be very huge for Garfield & Sloan. We have a huge clients that could benefit the company in so many ways which is why me and your mother are devoting so much of our time with the client in New York. Since we're hardly here, we though it would be best for us to just buy an apartment in NYC instead of constantly flying."
Wow.
That's a lot of information.
"So what, you're moving?"
"Just temporarily." My mom gently touches my hand as a gesture of affection. Not that she has much to give most of the time.
"We were hoping while we're away you could stay here, complete your senior year of high school. I'm sure we'll sign the client before your graduation."
"So you're just leaving me here all alone?"
"Well look at it this way, we won't be in your way. You can do whatever you want, have fun with your friends, host parties. We'll be paying all the monthly bills so you don't have to worry about that.""I can't believe you think that's all. So what you pay my bills and that makes me okay with you leaving? Honestly this is so typical of you guys. You weren't even there when I needed you. You were never there. And now you just leave your son, no strings attached. Why the fuck did you choose to have a son when you don't even want to be there with him?"
"YOU WATCH YOUR MOUTH BOY." My dad stands up banging the table. "You will not talk to your parents like that. Now you're going to go to your room, and stay the hell inside if you know what's best for you."
Parents literally screw everything up for you.
I cannot wait to go to university, miles and miles away from my family.I was so mad at my parents that I completely forgot about Natalie.
