I look out the window scanning my new environment, nothing but trees, the sky is a dull grey as dull as the plain white walls in this room. I let out a sigh and collapse onto my queen sized bed “I hate it here, I wish we never moved” I roll over onto my stomach checking my phone. Nothing. No missed calls, no texts, I guess they already forgot about me back home. I feel tears prick my eyes as I turn my phone off and hide my face in my soft red pillow, I hear a soft meow as my cat Ivy crawls out from under my bed stretching, I smile as I hear her small paws exploring out new shared space. After some time I hear my door creek. I roll my eyes not only because my peace was being interrupted but because it was my mother. I sit up slightly as she begins to talk “I want you to go make friends” she says look around my room, she whipped her head to look at me her face showed disgust and anger, she always makes that face when it comes to me. She put her hands on her hips “and I told you to unpack, I know you didn’t want to move but come on Cas” she had so much venom in her voice as she spoke, it burned like hot knives. I roll over to sit on the edge of my bed looking at the floor I spoke, “The only good thing about moving is that you don’t know anyone either.” I get up, and open my dresser drawer, pulling out a pair of my black shorts and pull them up “what is that supposed to mean?” I turned around to look at her “I mean you can’t force me to be friends with people anymore, I hate it I loved my old friends, and you decided they weren’t good enough” she looked deep into me not just my eyes, but my soul “they were bad kids Cassidy you were drinking and smoking you are only 17!” I was shaking with anger and I couldn’t hold it back anymore “I was smoking before mother , they didn’t make me start!” There was a moment of silence, the rooms energy had changed it was was hot and the air was thick “it doesn’t matter anymore, we’re here to start a new life, you will make better friends that won’t help you do bad things'' she leaves slamming the door scarring my poor Ivy I roll my eyes changing into a black tank top with rainbow skulls. I walk down the stairs, hearing my mother in the kitchen yelling at my father over the phone, yet again. I open the door and walk out into the hot summer afternoon, I already miss the odd coldness of my new room. I roll my eyes ''there aren’t any houses around here, how does she expect me to make friends if there is no one around the dump.” I walk a few yards away from the house into the woods, I look around pulling out my pack of cigs and light one, I take a deep breath then let it out, I instantly feel relaxed and take another puff. Half way through my cigarette I hear a crunch, it sounded like footsteps ‘shit’ I take one last puff and flicked it away waving the smoke away from me, patiently waiting for my mother to find me and yell at me once again, when to my surprise a chick around my age, maybe a year older comes out from the trees… she was gorgeous; short lavender hair, black crop top, ripped shorts, all the way fishnets, and high tops god she was beautiful “hey baby doll share smoke?” Her voice was rough but soothing “hello baby doll?” Fuuuucccccckkkkk she called me babydoll, I think I’m gonna die. “I uh yeah absolutely” I stuttered turning red handing her a cigarette “thanks beautiful” she said putting in between her beautiful plump lips ''so what are you doing out here all alone?” She asked exhaling “I just moved here, I’m making friends'' I say with a small smirk “well you’re doing a very good job at that” she winked and I squealed internally “maybe wanna come over, show my mother the good news?” I asked smiling hopefully, she thinks for a minute and takes another drag “sure beautiful why not?” I smile, taking her hand in mine and we begin to walk to the house. She squeezed my hand slightly and I squeezed hers back. She breaks the silence “so beautiful, you got a name don’t think your parents will be too cool about me hitting on their kid” I paused for a minute “hitting on me?” I ask turning around to face her “well maybe a little” she blushed a little and smiled “unless you’re not into it” she bit her lip softly “no beautiful, I’m into it” I turn around and started talking again, “names Cassidy, you can call me Cas” “Fiona”. I open the door, and hear cabinet doors slamming shut “mom” I shout to her “what Cassidy, what do you want now!” She storms out of the kitchen into the connecting hallway to where we are, as soon as she sees Fiona her mood changed “well hello, I’m Marcy Cassidy’s mother, it’s nice to meet you” she held out for her name “Fiona” she said bluntly ‘Fiona already doesn’t like her’ “mother, we’re going to my room” my mother smiles at me and rubs my head “ok Cassy, you two have fun and I’ll call you when lunch is ready” I look at her confused she hasn’t called me Cassy or rubbed my head since I was 10 “right” I take Fiona’s hand again to lead her upstairs, I open the door “woah nice room” she said sitting on my bed as I closed the door “it’s ok, I still don’t fully care for it” I sit next to her taking her hand again “you sure do like holding my hand huh?” She asked a little laugh in her voice “oh well if you don’t like it” I started to take my hand away “no no, I like it” she squeezed it again rubbing her thumb against my hand ‘Jesus this is nice’ “girls lunch!” My mother yelled from down stairs “let’s go get some food beautiful” Fiona got up pulling me up into a hug. Wow.
