Harsha's POV
Gowri Chechi [Older sister - not related] came in and said she'll be singing for the celebration. When my Grandfather was alive he organized a little celebration for the small community here during Onam. [A festival celebrated in Kerala, India. AKA harvest festival]. My uncle, my father's older brother, takes care of it now. People come and go telling one of us what they'll be doing for the event and I write them down so we can set up a schedule. My cousins and I will be setting up the speakers, microphones and all the "technical" stuff. We'll be heavily relying on Anu, my cousin, who's the same age as me but exceeds in technological things.

Shiva's POV
It was the first day of Onam celebration. Harsha and her cousins stood under the open tent, the panthal.

Panthal:

I stood with my brother Varun, and my friends Anand and Ranjan

I stood with my brother Varun, and my friends Anand and Ranjan. I had my arm around my best friend Anand, as we all stared at the sight. A few of our other friends joined us. I stared at Harsha in awe, but didn't show it. For the first time she was wearing a saree. The cloth draped around her petite body, exposing her curves. The left side of her hip was bare with only a small mole covering it. Her hair half down and parted in the middle, covered with jasmine flowers, eyes adorned with kohl, and her ears dressed with shining studs.

We whispered and stared. Her cousins, Anu and Aahna were also dressed for the occasion. The other one, Sandeep and Harsha's brother Hemanth were dressed casually but in new clothes.
My friends and myself had new clothes on, wearing the traditional dress shirt and a white mundu.

(Yes I searched the internet and yes, that's Mohanlal.... Key word: Model, this isn't what Shiva looks like... Ahem)

It wasn't long before one of the guys started to whistle at them.

Harsha's POV
I knew those whistles and "koos" were targeted towards us. Those guys don't have anything better to do other than bully and tease us all when they get time. To think I was friends with them, though it makes sense because that's exactly what I liked about them. I wanted to do something about the sounds but Aahana chechi won't let me. Aahana chechi is the good girl, role model, good grades, and never makes mistakes. If there was one person my parents would compare me to at any point it would be her.
Not being able to control myself I decided to do something that would shut the guys up and not trouble Aahana chechi. I leaned against the table where Anu was working with the laptop and planned to look busy, drumming my fingers on the table and humming a song. With my other hand I grabbed one of the wooden rods we had to tie to the panthal for support. I showed it to Aahana Chechi and said I was going to do it. Instead of getting right into the job, I lingered and held it to the ground next to me, clearly displaying the threat to the guys. I turned my head around and smiled mockingly. They shushed and let out small surprised noises. If something happened it would always be for my self defense. But I don't plan on hurting them, just a little scare that's all. Ranjan held up his hand, surrendering and slowly said, "Okay. Okay," like he was trying to tame a beast. "We don't want to go there. We want to live."
I smiled and took the rod and pushed it to the ground in the corner of the panthal, next to the thin metal rods already placed there.
"Oh, I was just going to tie this here for support," I said innocently. Sandeep and Anu snickered. Aahana chechi just shook her head. The guys flustered. Except Shiva, who's eyes never got off of me. I had to admit it felt a little intimidating. He seemed to glare at me but I couldn't make out what it was. At this point we were sort of enemies so I don't think he's being friendly towards me.
So, without showing any sort of submission, I glared back at him, my lips twisting in displeasure.
