My name is Pheonix Oxford. I live in America, we just moved here from London. Im about 28 years old, but I live with my parents, who are terribly ill, to take care of them.

My mother is Jane Oxford. My father is Daniel Oxford.

I open my eyes and inhale the cold morning air. It is early in the morning. I like to wake up this early, before mum and dad are awake. I dress myself in something warm, as it is especially cold in the mornings of January. I place the locket containing pictures of both my parents around my neck before I leave every morning.

I set outside just in time for the sunrise. My shoes crunch on the frost on the grass. After the sky turns from a light blue to white with clouds, I head for down town to the church I attend.

There, I sit in the front peu, sure to listen to the priest. Sure to pray when he does, and to sing when he does.

After church, I go home the long way. At home, I must take care of my mum, whom is ill. "Darling?" She asks horsely when she hears my close the front door behind me. "Yes, mum?" I awnser, taking off my shoes and coat. "Here," she says as I enter her bedroom.

She holds out her old, wrinkly, shaking hand, holding something. I hold out my palm. In it she places 5 coins. "Use this money to buy a loaf of bread for dinner tonight." She manages to choke out in such a horse voice. I only nod before I put my shoes and coat on again.

I slowly walk down the streets, scanning the bread shops for which has the lowest price. I thumb the coins in my hand when one store has an aroma so sweet and strong. As I begin to walk towards the bakery, I feel my hand jerk and the coins are gone. I look after him as he is runnig away.

I try to chase after him but he was too fast. My futil calls after him caught no one's attention.

Tears filled my eyes as I knew my parents would be very cross. I just stood there, stuck between emotions. I knew I should go straight home, as mum always tells me, but I didnt want to. I didnt want to go home empty handed.

I felt as though I was no good. A disgrace to my family. My parents are always vein, but this would provoke it more.

After a while of standing there, a blank expression on my face, I found myself walking back to my home.

I stood in the living room before my father. He buried his face in his palms, his face red with anger. "Where is the money?" He asked again after many before, a calm anger. "It was stolen." I barely choke out, completely washed over with fear. I genuinely feared my father.

This time, he stood up from the couch, and threw me in his place. He took off his belt and began to beat me.

The first hit was on my side, reaching from my spine to the right of my belly. Again, again, he beat me. All over my body. The leather left a sea of stinging pain, only to be followed by another.

I curled up in a ball, trying to escape the pain. He turned me over. The last thing I remember was seeing his knuckles.

I wake up at the bottom of the stairs. My vision is blurry and I feel my blood dripping off of me in diffrent parts of my body. I attempt to lift my self but I am hit with a burst of pain washing over me, and I fall to the ground again.

I waited. It must have been hours. The house was silent. The only sound was the faint sound of the wind blowing in the trees just outside the window.

I've memorized what the ceiling looks like. I've memorized what the carpet looks and feels like.

Soon, the light shining in from the window dims. I attemt to get up, this time succeding, but very sore.

I leaned against the wall for support as I shuffled to the bathroom. I felt very naussiaus. I made it to the toilet just in time. Seeing blood on the seat, I stand reguardless of my aching body and look in the mirror. It wasnt me in the mirror. It was some horribly beaten girl with blood, bruises, and deep gashes all over her.
