Chapter 17 - Love Lost in Flames

Ciel awoke screaming which then caused Sebastian to awaken from his spot next to Ciel. It was just another terror, I need to go back to sleep and rest so I get better. Sebastian wouldn't want me to be sick or worried like this, besides... I can't change the past.

"My lord, is everything okay?" Sebastian asked while holding Ciel's sweating hands.

"I-I am fine, it was just a night terror, no need to concern yourself." Ciel replied with a faint smile in order to mask his pain.

"So, everyone you loved died that day?" Sebastian asked.

"Y-Yes, my mother and father... they both perished, all I have is you, and I love you dearly for staying by my side through everything." Ciel responded with his head down.

"M-My lord,... please, don't speak as though your time is over," Sebastian held his hands tightly within his own. "We still have so much more to do, so many more plans to make, and you're all I love. Please, as selfish as this may sound, don't leave me here alone."

"S-Sebastian..." Ciel whispered before passing out which caused Sebastian to weep and clasp his body close to his in order to take in his scent.

"P-Please, fight hard, my lord." Sebastian whispered softly into his lord's ear as more tears inundated his face.

Sebastian decided that he wasn't going to move until his lord awoke from his death-like slumber, however useless it may be, no matter how long it would take, he vowed to remain vigilant in this vow - to never leave his ill lord's side no matter what befell him. Eventually, Sebastian fell asleep while holding his lord's hands and awoke later to feel a hand stroking his hair, he mumbled and tried to go back to sleep because he figured it was just his imagination.

"So you're a tired demon today, are you?" Ciel asked while continuing to stroke his hair.

Sebastian bolted upright and embraced his lord, kissing his cheek repeatedly.

"Oh, my lord, I am so glad that you're all right." Sebastian said with a smile. "I was worried about you."

"I noticed, but you should have known that I wouldn't have gave up so easily." Ciel replied.

"That's my lord." Sebastian said with a bright smile. 

"S-Sebastian, why do you think good people have to die in vain?"  Ciel asked with tears welling up in his eyes. 

"My lord, - well, I suppose they die due to the evil intentions of others, and because it was their time. Young master, there is no need to worry about that any more, I am here to protect you from whoever hurt your family that night six years ago."  Sebastian answered and embraced his lord tightly. 

"I'm not worried about myself, I could careless about what happens to me, but I am worried about what impact it would have on you if I were to... die one day." Ciel stated the inevitable. 

 "My lord, please, don't speak about such things before your time has come. I understand that it is hard to deal with the death of your parents, but, please, don't say such things. Please, just rely on me as much as you need to." Sebastian answered with tears forming in his eyes. 

"Sebastian, is it even possible for a demon to love?..." Ciel asked with a blank expression upon his face. 

"Demons can love, my lord. Their love is just not as lavish as humans display, but I hope that my love is enough for you because you genuinely mean the world to me." Sebastian answered while taking his lord's hand in his and gently kissing it. 

"S-Sebastian, why would you love a human when there are other demons out there for you to love?" Ciel inquired with a rather sad expression now upon his face. 

"My lord, there is no one, or anything, that can compare to you, not even cats. You are my priority, you are my first thought when I wake up in the morning, you are my world, and it would hurt me dearly if something were to happen to you. Please, do not doubt me for I promised to never lie to you." Sebastian replied while looking into his lord's eyes. 

"Sebastian, you would help me with anything, right?" Ciel asking looking down, he was no doubt ashamed of what he was about to ask. 

"Of course, my lord." Sebastian answered while bowing deeply. 

"Will you... Will you help me get revenge on the ones who killed my parents six years ago?" Ciel asked. 

"M-My lord, of course. It would be my pleasure." Sebastian answered with a smirk. 

"Aw, you just made me really happy. Thank you sooooo much!" Ciel exclaimed happily while hugging his butler tightly. 

"Anything for you, love." Sebastian answered with a smile and returned his lord's embrace. 

I may have lost their love in flames, but I will not lose Sebastian's love, no matter what it costs me...
