Entries 1-3

My journey from the demon realm is far from over. But today, I humbly donate my journal to the ages.

Entry 1, May 21st, I think.

My name is Philip Wittebane, and I found myself in a world so horrid it's fantastic. The world itself is so vast few minds could have dreamt it. If only those at home could see what I have, and perhaps they shall. The more I learn about this realm, the more I'm certain I can harness its strange powers to return home. Today, I begin recording my journey, to create a portal, back to the Human realm.

Entry 2, May 24th

My speculations were confirmed though as arduous as it may be to fathom, the very ground I am standing on is nothing but the skeletal remains of an entity so massive that it dwarfs my own existence. What happened? What else could be so powerful to have laid waste to this creature? Perhaps there exists something far beyond what our feeble imaginations could comprehend but all I want to know is what hides beneath this macabre landscape.

At noon perhaps, I found myself walking among its occupants and for the first time, I became the center of attention for all the wrong reasons. My humanoid features contrasted violently with their bulbous eyes, elongated noses and sharp teeth. I felt uneasy as their eyes followed me and as I was about to pick up the pace, one of them approached me faster than I could run from a pack of wolves. To my endless surprise, they showed me nothing but kindness and hospitality as they guided me to one of the settlements where I encountered another "friendly" native in the form of a tiny humanoid with wings. Perhaps my guard was down after meeting those kind travelers as the adorable fairy-like creature sprang forth towards me, baring her jagged teeth before I could even say my greetings.

Fortunately, deliverance was at hand when the fairy was deterred by a powerful burst of flame casted from the palm of a nearby citizen. As the kind stranger approached, the relief of seeing another one of my own kin rushed through me until their hood was unveiled. A beautiful woman with pointed ears and eyes like sapphire was standing in front of me. I would be deceiving myself if I were to deny feeling entranced. The woman called herself a "witch", a term often associated with heresy and disgrace in my world but there she was, wearing such a title with pride and confidence. Our brief interaction sparked an unending curiosity into the world of these so-called "witches". They are so much similar to us yet so distinct in their features and most importantly, the innate ability to conjure elements out of thin air - something I could say with great confidence that even the most adept of alchemists would stand pale in comparison.

As I made my descent down town, the presence of these "witches" became far more prevalent along with their sorcery. People were pressing their palms onto odd figures and lo and behold, small balls of light began to emerge similar to that of the sun. My eyes were dazzled yet these performances seemed rather mundane to the eyes of others as a child could pull them off with ease. Despite being justifiably apprehensive of my inquisitive nature, the locals surprised me yet again with their hospitality as they slowly taught me the fundamentals of those drawings they call "glyphs". With the sun slowly fading on the horizon, I finally created my first ball of light with nothing but a drawing on a piece of paper as clappings emerged from the crowd like seeing an infant taking its first steps and in that moment, I too felt the same as I stood in awe like a child seeing the wonders of the world for the first time in its life.

What else could be waiting for me tomorrow? Frankly I do not know but I am most certain to be impressed once more by this strange world.

Entry 3, May 30th

I would be lying if I were to express contentment with the living condition of this place, especially regarding the local "delicacies" as I was offered literal eyeballs and a living fairy for breakfast. It was an unnerving sight seeing the locals chewing on these tiny creatures with such delight. My sense of disgust was palpable but it was either indulging in savagery or slowly starving on my bed so, I consumed it in one fell swoop and tried my very best to ignore the fading screech of the poor creature. Calling the entire incident disturbing would be an understatement.

Today was a harrowing experience as my years of exploring and battling have given me so little in preparation for such a....peculiar set of circumstances. The lack of compatible sustenance has been demoralizing but I cannot be too displeased, though, for as horrible as my conditions are, my fate would have been sealed if not for the immense hospitality of these people.

I do not know how long my stay will be but my resolve shall not waver and I will find a way to return home and hopefully, something more pleasant to satiate my hunger.
