CHAPTER 7

Ava POV:

It was so pretty outside, Jackson had put the top down on his silver Porsche and we were making our way on some backroads, he turned out of the city and went down a road with farm fields on either side. The sky was black and sprinkled with little white stars. he slowed down right in front of a clearing in the fields. A little ways out, there was a huge willow tree with lights hung from the branches. Underneath was a small picnic blanket with candles and food set up under. A man with a violin stood at the base of the tree playing the violin. It was perfect, everything about this felt right. I was too busy ogling the picnic that I didn't notice Jackson had gotten out of the car until he was opening up my door. He offered his hand and helped me out of the car.

“I feel really over dressed.” I said nervously blushing at what I was wearing.

“I think you look beautiful.” He said, I looked up at him expecting him to be kidding around but his face was sincere. He took my hand and led me to the blanket. I sat down and tucked my lugs to the side with my dress covering them. He sat across from me and opened up the picnic basket. He took out two plates and placed one in front of me and the other one by him. After a few minutes of silent eating he cleared his throat.

“You should know that this isn't what I had planned for our first date.” he said, his eyes dropped to his food. I touched his knee causing him to look up at me.

“I love it” I said looking right into his eyes. They were beautiful, crystal blue with some speckles in them.

“What?” he said. I snapped out of my trance and realized that i was staring.

“Nothing” i blushed, i dropped my gaze and pushed my food around. But he was persistent.

“What!” He said with laugh in his voice.

“I said nothing!” By this time we were both laughing.

“I think you're lying!” He exclaimed.

“No I swear!”

“Are you ticklish?” He asked. In one swift motion he tackled me to the ground and began to tickle me. I tried to wiggle my way out of it but he pulled me back down him hovering over me. I stared up at him a smile on my face. He looked down at me and gave me his signature smirk. I brought my hand up and touched the stubble on his cheek. He slowly leaned down and pressed his lips to mine. Everything slowed down, time seemed to stop. Everything about being here with him right now seemed to be so right. He slowly pulled away his lips lingered close for a minute till he slowly stood up. He offered me his hand down.

“Would you like to go on a walk with me?” He asked

“Sure.” I said breathlessly. I grabbed his hand and he pulled me up next to him. I kicked my shoes off on the blanket. We walked side by side for a while till he manned up and grabbed my hand. I snuggled close to his arm and stared at the stars.

“I was wondering when you were going to man up.” I giggled. He didn't say anything but I felt him laugh and squeeze my hand. We walked for a while until we were almost back to the car. Out of no where paparazzi jumped out of the weeds and bombarded us with flashes. Jackson pushed them out of the way and got us back to the car. They surrounded the car and took pictures. Jackson started the car and drove away from the field. After a while he spoke up

“I am sorry, I have no idea how they knew we were there. I wanted our first date to be perfect and” He started

“Hey,” I said grabbing his hand, “this was perfect. Well for the most part.”

“Really?” he asked looking at me.

“Really.” I leaned over and kissed him on the cheek. We drove away with the radio on all the way back to the city. I looked at the time, 12:13.

“How is it that I'm always out so late with you?” I asked

“Because you love spending time with me.” He said, smirking

“Good to know.” I smiled looking out the window.

“What” He asked

“Hmm?”

“You said good to know, good to know what?”

“Nothing, just that your conceded.”

“True, but you love it.”

“Ha Ha, okay.” We pulled onto my street and he turned the car off. He got out and ran around to open my door. He helped me out of the car and grabbed my hand. We walked to my building and stopped right in front.

“You don't have to walk me all the way up you know.” I said.

“You’re right I don’t, but I want to.” He smiled and pulled me into the building. We got in the elevator and ascended to my floor. He walked me to my door and grabbed my hands.

“I had a great time tonight.” he said.

“So did I” I raised to my toes and kissed him on the lips. He wrapped his arms around my waist and I put my hands around his neck. We stayed like that for a while until we were rudely interrupted by Keeley.

“Welcome home love birds!” She sang. We dropped our lips and i put my head in his chest. I felt him chuckle and I laughed too.

“I’ll call you later.” He whispered in my ear. With a kiss on the cheek he disappeared down the hallway and into the elevator.

“You are such a cock block!” I scolded Keeley.

“What? Its not like you would have gone any farther!” She commented back. I followed her into my apartment.

“Why did you stay here, you knew I was going to be out long.” I asked her. I saw her eyes drop to the floor. She played with the hem of her shirt for a while till she answered.

“I..ah.. wanted to know how your date was.” She asked faking a smile

“And you couldn't ask me tomorrow? Keeley, what's going on?”

“Fine, its Evan. I came home the other night and he was with another girl. I screamed and stormed out. I went home to get some things and he was there and he said that it didn't mean anything and it wasn't what it looked like. He said I was the only one he loved and that he will never do it again. I was so mad that I slapped him across the cheek and left. What if i lost him A, what if he never will love me the same way?” She cried into my shoulder. After a ten minutes of trying to calm her down I sent her into the bathroom to clean up. I changed my clothes into a PINK sweatshirt and a pair of yoga pants. I checked my phone and saw a text from Jackson

J: I had a great time tonight, though your friend kind of ruined the moment ;)

I giggled at his text as I sat down on the couch. Keeley came out of the bathroom sniffling, she saw me smiling and marched over and took my phone. SHe frowned as she read it and ferociously texted him back.

A: Hey, don't ever make fun of my best friend again! She is the best person in the world and you have no right to do that. I don't know if I can forgive you because you are just like all other guys, selfish and conceited!

J: You’re right Keeley, all guys are stupid. Don't go for the guys who talk sweet but don't treat you like candy. It might take time but you just have to wait for that one guy will make you feel like you are the stars. the one who will treat you like a gem. Unfortunately there are not many of us in the world. ;) I let you girls alone, tell Ava I say goodnight and I’ll talk to her tomorrow.

I gushed over his sweetness. Keeley just scoffed at me

“Ugh, its not fair. How did you already find a good one?”

“I guess I’m just lucky.” I said smiling at my phone.
