NOW PLAYING- COWARD / VELVETEARS

I'M A COWARD ON THE FRONT LINES.

"Are you gonna leave now?" She spoke up, after minutes that felt like hours of silence.

Her (e/c) eyes were puffy, but her body temperature was rising normally again.

Shouto took her to the hospital.

In all of his 20 years of living, for the first time he was helpless. He was never a people person-he could've been, but due to unforseen circumstances all of that changed.

How does he help her?

"I won't be leaving anytime soon." Shouto rubbed the back of his neck tiredly with his eyes closed.

He hasn't stayed in a hospital for this long since his childhood.

(Y/n) only grunted in response, staring blankly at the wall in front of her.

There was a knock at the door, it was met with silence and turned into a creak. In the crevice of the open door, peaked a nurse with a kind smile and equally kind eyes.

"Hey there... I've got some food for you." She glanced over at Shouto, who was now sitting straight, feigning physical attendance. In reality, his body is tired. The cold is getting to him, and he hasn't slept the whole night.

Every time (Y/n) opened her eyes, it seemed like Shouto's eyes were open too.

"Thank you," he bowed his head and thanked the nurse when he notices (Y/n) continuing to stare into nothingness.

As the nurse set the tray onto the bed's pullout table she checked (Y/n)'s stats. And, before leaving, she turned to Shouto to give him a sympathetic look and a quick nod.

"You should eat." Shouto stared (Y/n) down, an emotional unavailable fog clouding his presence.

"And you should go home." She snapped, continuing to stare at the wall. The only noise to be heard after is the periodical beeping of (Y/n)'s monitor.

Shouto was taken aback. He'd think that the last thing she'd want right now is to be alone.

He couldn't oblige her wishes, no, then he would have just lied to her on that rooftop. Then he would've been better off just letting her die.

"You need to eat." He persisted.

"Why are you doing this?" (Y/n) looked him in the eyes, his beautiful heterochromia nearly catching her off guard.

"Doing what?"

"Caring," She looked back at the wall in front of her, it was a bland color, nothing interesting about it all yet she seemed to be fixated on it as if it was spectacular. "You don't know me."
