The Strongest Fighter [Genshin Impact Jean x M!Reader]

Prologue: The Strongest Fighter

- Third POV -

"If everyone's got their own opinion and can't be persuaded... how are we ever going to find out who Mondstadt's strongest fighter is?" Paimon asks Lumine.

Lumine shrugs in response to her guide's question.

"What if we ask someone that knows everyone's fighting capabilities?" Lumine suggests.

Paimon hums in response and realizes who the perfect candidate is.

"...Eureka! Lumine you're right! Paimon's got it! Let's go see what Jean says."

"Right. Jean is also arguably one of the strongest in Mondstadt too."

The infamous pair that stopped Dvalin quickly exits the cavern as their next destination was the Knight's of Favonius' headquarters. Quickly running through the crowd of people and running up of one of the many staircases, Lumine accidently bumps into a stranger turning the corner. This causes both the traveler and the stranger to fall back onto the ground.

"Sorry! I didn't see you there!" The stranger says as he gets up.

He extends a hand and Lumine grabs his hand. He pulls her up and they both dust each other off.

"It's alright. I wasn't looking either and I was in a rush."

Paimon appears out of thin air and pulls out a Mushroom Skewer.

"Here sir! Take this as our apology!" She hands the man the skewer which he confusingly takes out of the midget's hand. "Anyways, as Lumine said, we are in a rush so have a great day!"

Paimon pulls on Lumine and they wave their goodbyes to the stranger. He stares at the mushroom skewer and mumbles to himself.

"I don't like mushrooms..."

Moments later back with the main characters, Lumine and Paimon arrive at the Acting Grandmaster's office and quickly head inside. Luckily Jean was inside taking a break by looking out her window. Hearing the door open, she turns to see pair and gives them a smile.

"Hello Lumine, Paimon." Jean greets.

"Master Jean! Sorry to bother you, we're here collecting intel on the strongest fighter in Mondstadt." Paimon states.

Jean ponders for a moment, thinking about who the strongest fighter really is. For her, she doesn't want to be bias so this is taking a second for her to think.

"Strongest fighter in Mondstadt?" Paimon and Lumine nod. "Well I suppose I can think of a single person."

"Wait really?!" Paimon says excitedly. "Who!? Who!?"

"His name is Y/n."

An awkward silence fills the room.

"Who's Y/n?" Paimon asks.

Jean chuckles and takes a seat.

"He's a... friend of mine. Before you arrived in Mondstadt, a couple years ago we held a tournament for everyone in Mondstadt to participate in. It was to see who was fit to be a leader incase of dire circumstances." Jean explains.

"Paimon is confused. Why is it that no one has mentioned of Y/n back at the tavern when he won a tournament to see who was the strongest fighter?"

"Well that's probably because this was a couple years ago and not everyone who participated wasn't exactly known to be a renowned fighter." Jean responds.

"Then why do you suggest he is the strongest fighter if that's the case? Paimon thinks that you or Master Diluc would be in the running for the strongest."

Lumine nods in agreement.

"Well if I am being honest with you, Diluc nor I have actually ever beaten Y/n in a battle before."

"WHAT!? You and Master Diluc can't beat this guy? Sounds like he is in fact the strongest fighter! I want to meet him so badly!" Paimon turns to Lumine. "I bet that Y/n is some sort of Knight with a high ranking status! If Master Diluc and Jean can't beat him, he definitely can't be some commoner." Paimon turns to look at Jean again. "Do you know where we could meet him?"

Jean leans back into her chair.

"Funny enough, I expected him to arrive at this time instead of you two. He said he will be here around... now."

At that exact moment, someone knocks on the door.

"EEEK!" Paimon shrieks in terror... even though there wasn't anything to scare her.

"Come in!" Jean yells.

"Hey honey! Sorry I'm late I-" The man stops what he was saying and sees there were other visitors besides him. "Am I interrupting something?"

"Honey?" Paimon asks.

Jean stands up from her seat and walks around her desk towards the man. 

"Lumine and Paimon, meet my boyfriend Y/n."

Jean pecks her boyfriend on the cheek after the introduction.

"BOYFRIEND?!" Paimon says in shock before she passes out and falls on the ground.

Lumine on the other hand goes to give a handshake to Y/n.

"Sorry for bumping into you earlier."

"Oh no. Like I said, it was my fault. Also thank you for the mushroom skewer but I actually don't like mushrooms so I was planning on giving it to Jean." Y/n says as he hands the mushroom skewer in his hand to Jean.

"Oh you guys met each other already?"

"Briefly cutie. I was heading up to the headquarters but then I bumped into this young lady and then they quickly sped off."

"Stooooop giving me nicknames while we're at work! Its embarrassing... like first Lisa calls me it but then I get her to stop and then you started doing it!" Jean says as her face was quickly reddening.

Seeing this, Y/n gives her a quick kiss on the lips and whispers in her ear with a smirk.

"Never."

A light cough breaks the couple out of their moment and they turn to see Paimon crossing her arms with Lumine blocking her eyes trying not to look.

"Sorry to ruin your happy moment but Paimon wants an explanation on what is going on here! Why haven't I heard anything about Master Jean having a boyfriend!"

"Well to answer your question... Paimon was it?" She nods. "Jean and I have been dating for almost two years and for the other reason why you haven't heard of it was because it was kept under the radar." Y/n replies.

"What do you mean you kept it under the radar?" Lumine asks she was no longer looking away.

"Basically Jean wanted to keep our relationship a secret and only tell a few trustworthy people. So welcome to the club as I trust that you guys won't be spreading anything about us being together."

They both nod and look at Jean as she was wrapped around Y/n's waist and Y/n's arm was wrapped around her.

"Awww we won't tell a soul. You guys are adorable! Please tell us how you guys met!" Paimon exclaims.

The couple chuckle to themselves.

"Well you guys might want to sit down for this one." Y/n says as he pulls out a chair for Jean at the table. "You don't mind that I tell them the story right?" Y/n asks Jean as she sits down.

"No it's alright. I would love to experience our beginnings."

Paimon and Lumine follow suit and sits down at the long wooden table on the opposite side. 

"Alright. I brought some food over so if you want something just grab it. Anyways, so two years ago, I came to Mondstadt on a... vacation you could say."
