He could hear Ginny's voice floating from the next room because of the slightly open door.
Ginny was in the sitting area chatting with their friends - luna and neville. The three seemed inseperable whenever they did a get together. Not that harry minds. It always brings a smile on his face to see ginny so happy, without a worry in the world, and it calms him as well. His eyes falls on the poster of Holyhead Harpies on their wall that his girlfriend claimed looks pretty on the wall and he shakes his head with a chuckle.
𝘎𝘪𝘳𝘭𝘧𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘥. The word still brought a smile on his face whenever he thinks about it. They have been dating for over three years now. After the war had ended, it didnt take long for harry and ginny to get back together, after all they've been through, being with eachother was something they needed, and not just wanted. After ginny's graduation, it felt right to just move in together, so they did. And it still felt like a dream, the random kisses, touches, and just her presence was something he could never be greatful enough for.
Smoothing down his messy hair - which didnt help his hair at all - Harry pushed open the door to the sitting room.
"I'm going mad. He- he drives me mad. And it hurts, it's painful - i dont like it this way anymore. And I want to put an end to it..."
Harry frezes, and he didnt listen the end of the sentence. It felt like someone has just stabbed him with a knife, and his brain had stopped working. He couldn't think. He made his way - in a daze - to the nearest door which let outside to the backyard. He opened the door with a force and chose not to hear when Neville asked when he was going.
He heard footsteps from behind and he knew who it was even before she called his name, but he didnt stop until she reached out and grabbed his arm.
"Harry, what- " harry turned and the smile slid from Ginny's face when she saw his expression.
"Dont" was the only word harry could form and he realised there was a lump rising in his throat.
"Whats wrong harry?" she asks, harry was looking somewhere above her shoulder because he couldn't look in those eyes but he knew her face was full of confusion.
Ginny's fingertips lightly brushed his forearm, and Harry shuddered. "I... I hurt you." Harry mentally cursed himself again, because why did he have to stutter, to make himself seem even more pathetic? But Harry didn't care. He tried to free his arm for her grip but she held it tighter. Harry still didnt look at her eyes, because if he did, the fear that ginny deserves better then someone like him - a fear thats always in the back of his head - would come back in full force and he didnt want to make a joke of himself even more then he already did. Finally he couldn't help it and he did look at her eyes, and there it was, the adorable crinkle of the faint strokes as Ginny's eyebrows knit together, the lines full of questions.
"What do you mean, Harry? You've never- oh. Oh . You heard me talking to them, didn't you? I swear, that isn't what I meant, I just-"
Harry looked down to see Ginny staring up at him, serenely through the wet glaze. He sighed, willing the burning sensation in his ears to go down. Knowing he was beet red by now, Harry met his girlfriend's chocolate brown eyes, which were full of hurt. Harry winced. She cupped his cheek, "Harry Potter, what you've heard is true. It hurts, how you- how much you make me feel, how much I love you"
"You- you said you dont like it this way anymore"
Ginny flushes, "by that i meant that i want to marry you, alright? And no this isnt a proposal or anything, i want 𝘺𝘰𝘶 to do that when im least expecting it"
Harry stared, astonished, at the beautiful, enchantingly mesmerizing eyes shining up at him. The idea of asking her to marry him has been in his head for months now, but he wasn't sure if ginny ever wanted to get married, and now that ginny herself told him about it, the only thing he could do was gape at her.
Then she punched him, "ow- whats that for?"
"you prat, you couldn't wait and hear the entire thing before storming away like that, did you?" she was glaring at him, and he felt like him storming away without hearing the whole thing was the dumbest thing he's ever done."So that means- i mean- god i feel like a complete idiot" he groans, feeling the embarrassment washing over him. Her expressions softenes and she sighs, "Merlin, Harry, 𝘪 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶, but you're right, you're an idiot".
Harry chuckles, relief - warm, sweeping, glorious relief - washing over him. And then his chuckles turn to laughing, and ginny is laughing too, which sounds better then music to his ears, and then they are both trying to catch their breath as they laugh over the idiocy of the situation.
Ginny wraps are arms around his neck and he automatically wraps his arms around her waist as their laughter turns to soft chuckles. Ginny puts her head on his chest and harry places a soft kiss on her hair. His everything. "I'm sorry" ginny says "for ever doing anything that made you feel insecure about us" she lifts her head to look at his emerald green eyes.
"𝘐'𝘮 sorry, i should have listened to the whole thing" he says sincerely.
"Yeah, now forget this little misunderstanding ever happened and just kiss- " he was kissing her even before she'd finished her sentence. At first it was rough, and then slow, and it was perfect, it was 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮.
"Whats taking you too so long?" neville's voice leads them to break apart, but they keep their foreheads touching. "Lets go back inside" ginny says softly, harry nods and she turns to leave but he grabs her arm, ginny looks at him confused, "i love you" he says and hopes she can see all the emotions he's put into those words. Ginny smiles and kisses him softly on the lips, then again, and grabs his hand "now come on Potter, i've got to show you something" and he lets her drag him to the sitting room, his brain already trying to form plans of how he could propose her.
